Please delete

(This is really odd, I thought sure I posted this a few days ago. anyway...)

Please nuke Schedule for 1991. I moved it to Weekly Schedule for 1991 to better fit with the format. Going back a year, as part of the reorganization for the odyssey places Category:Soda Fountains is also not needed.

You admins should get notified when a new page gets added to Category:Flagged for Deletion. (I pretty much have to ask every time I get a page deleted.) Hope all is well. Aiow 19:52, 21 January 2019 (MST)

Page Deletion?

Hi again Scientific Guy, I was also wondering why my page "Sparky The Happy Giraffe" got deleted.

Thanks, WootonBasset (talk) 12:19, 25 January 2019 (MST)

Characters in Episodes

Hey Scientific Guy, I was wondering how to add episodes that a character was featured/mentioned in. Thanks!

WootonBasset (talk) 12:19, 25 January 2019 (MST)

Episodes in messed up for Whit

Hey Scientific Guy, I noticed that on the page for Whit it shows the last episode he is in as "Great Expectations". I figured I would add the other episodes, but when I checked the list of episodes the Whit was in, All of the episodes that he was in were there. So why does it show the last episode Whit is in as Great Expectations?

In a Sun-Scorched Land, Part 2 Rating Problem

For the episode In a Sun-Scorched Land, Part 2 where you are normally able to rate an episode it says "Ratings cannot be submitted until episode has been released.", even though the episode was released on the first of February. I didn't know how to fix it, so I figured I would tell you about the problem.

Thanks in advance, WootonBasset (talk) 12:23, 14 February 2019 (MST)

Protected schedule pages

I went to fix today's schedule page (wrong position for the apostrophe) but the page is protected :( and I can not edit it. One way around this would be to degrade the lock on that template (Semi-protection), so I could still edit the schedule pages. See attached screen shot. https://i.imgur.com/1mwuftj.png Thanks.

PS what were you doing Sunday with the talk pages for some of the future schedule pages? Aiow 19:40, 19 February 2019 (MST)

Thanks! I noticed the update. (error when trying to "show preview" on an edit...) Will have to get use to the new single color buttons :)
Aye, the New Episode template. I have looked at that many times and thought it should be auto. I don't have much spare time, but can probably look into it on Sunday. Aiow 08:14, 21 February 2019 (MST)

Rating Problem?

Hey Scientific Guy, it might be something on my computer, but in the place of where you normally rate episodes there is "{{#w4grb_rate:}}" and when a page tries to fetch the average rating of an episode/character, this shows: "N/A%".

Thanks in advance, WootonBasset (talk) 11:55, 28 February 2019 (MST)

New Episode template and loops

Sigh :) Oh well, we both were working on an auto new episode template. I'll finish it and make it fully auto (already have the image links). I'll have to look at what you did in New Episodes/schedule, after a quick glance it looks simpler then my method for getting the new episodes. Yah loops will be very useful. After looking at the new episode template and figuring that it would be impossible without loops, I got redo to install it. I already have other templates in mind to change. New Redirect?

Hey Scientific Guy, I was wondering if you thought creating a page called "Wyatt" that redirected to "Wyatt Perkins" is a good idea.

Hello Scientific Guy. I was wondering, how do I add pictures to my user page, and to character pages. Plus, how do I add ones I take? Please let me know when you can. Thank you. MayaKendall (talk) 15:21, 12 March 2019 (MDT)(MayaKendall (talk)

Official Podcast 324 Incorrect Audio

The Audio for Official Podcast 324 is incorrect, and plays a previous podcast. I am unsure as to how to fix it, so I decided to tell you about it.

Thanks, WootonBasset (talk) 11:49, 13 March 2019 (MDT)

Edit: I just realized the reason the audio is off is because the podcast is actually 325, not 324. Podcast 324's page had not been created, so when I created 325's page, I thought It was podcast 324. (If that's confusing, just know that I figured it out and don't need help.) WootonBasset (talk) 11:54, 13 March 2019 (MDT)

Between Camp and a Hard Place, Part 2 Rating Problem

For the episode Between Camp and a Hard Place, Part 2 where you are normally able to rate an episode it says "Ratings cannot be submitted until episode has been released.", even though the episode was released today. I didn't know how to fix it, so I figured I would tell you about the problem.

Template:Schedule year

With your edit to the Template:Schedule year you created red links for the current year. The new logic only checks 1991, thus all other months will have links whether or not there is a page there. Was there a performance issue or something with the way it was before? PS any idea what is going on with the {{time}} function? I see {{time}}is working now and not {{timel}}!? Aiow 16:53, 1 April 2019 (MDT)

That's funny because red links annoy me :) They always were grey to signify that the page does not exist, or exist yet. But whatever.
Glad to help with the Darien's Rise logo. I was just browsing the Category:Pages_needing_work and saw that image. Aiow 07:00, 2 April 2019 (MDT)

Two Pages For Same Person

Hey Scientific Guy, Bart Rathbone's brother has two pages devoted to him: Lannie Rathbone and Lanny Rathbone. I'm not sure which is named correctly, but one of them needs to be deleted.

AIOWiki Podcast?

Are you going to release #18 for the AIOWiki Podcast? It's been two months and I was wondering if you and Arista had stopped doing it.

Elise(b)

I think Elise (b) should be changed to Elise Reed. I believe Reed is her last name. MayaKendall (talk) 17:13, 3 April 2019 (MDT)

At the end of Between Camp and a Hard Place, Part 2, Connie calls her Elise Reed, so I agree it should be changed. WootonBasset (talk) 07:28, 4 April 2019 (MDT)

Just a Question

Hi. I'm new here and I'm wondering how to create a new page for an episode. Thanks. TheAIOlover (talk) 18:46, 3 April 2019 (MDT)

When you search something, and there is no page for your search terms, you can click to create the page on the wiki. Then, click "episode" to create the template for an episode. Hope this helped, WootonBasset (talk) 07:40, 4 April 2019 (MDT)

Further From the Truth

I emailed Nathan Hoobler and he said The Morning Star and Breaking News were club episodes, but he didn't say that Further From the Truth was one. I assume that it's still planned to be in Album 68. TheAIOlover (talk) 08:58, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

This was the question and answer.

Q: Do you have the titles for the other three episodes in Album 68? (Not Breaking News, Further From the Truth, or The Morning Star)

A: In fact, “The Morning Star” and “Breaking News” are both Club stories and will not be included in Album 68. We’ve moved recordings around a few times this year and we haven’t done it the way that we usually do. But I can say that we’ll see an episode with the word “Wise” in it for Album 68.TheAIOlover (talk) 09:02, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

Nathan gave me a slightly expanded reply saying that they recorded for club season 6, club season 7 and album 68 last week but didn't say what was what. Reddo (talk) 10:33, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

I see you deleted the "Cat rating" page. What are those anyways? Sorry about creating it. I think why I created it was because Mable created it before I could get out of the creation page. TheAIOlover (talk) 18:24, 15 May 2019 (MDT)

Oliver Family Tree

Hey Scientific Guy,

I was going to create a family tree for the Oliver family, but then I saw how complicated it was to make one. I figured you knew how, so if you could create it that would be great. I made a list of all the family members so you wouldn't have to do a lot of research.

Family Members

  • Buck Jebediah Oliver
  • Dali Oliver(nee Tender) - Buck's Mother
  • Novus Ordo "Cash" Oliver - Buck's Father
  • Jebediah Skint - Buck's Foster Father And Dali's Former Girlfriend

Novus' Aliases

  • Olivia - First Name
  • Novus - Last Name
  • Ordo - Last Name
  • Bartlebee - Last Name
  • Bartley - Last Name

Thanks, WootonBasset (talk) 11:32, 24 May 2019 (MDT)

Re: {{Segments}}

Wow that looks amazing. Lots of work, but time stamping the episodes! nice. One question how would you do the episodes where the radio version is different (most cases shorter) then the album version? Don't know if you would care but the monthly schedules list what ads air with the episodes. Might be helpful? Aiow 08:17, 25 May 2019 (MDT)

Idea

I have an Idea for the wiki. In my opinion, it would be more convenient to have on the main page of on the side section have a link to a page where you could create a page from scratch, and to create the name so you wouldn't have to search for it on the wiki. Now that I think about it, it wouldn't really change much, but it may be convenient if newcomers want to create a page. TheAIOlover (talk) 18:50, 4 June 2019 (MDT)

Redirects

Hi, so I've been creating redirects for two-part episodes that don't already have them, but then I found your deletion notice on the Find a Penny redirect that OdysseyFan created. Are these redirects actually unnecessary? I was just doing it because I thought it was normal redirect policy, like creating a page for the episode number. Is there a normal policy on these? Most two-parters have them. Cartoon Nostalgia 09:58, 10 June 2019 (MDT)

Hello Again & Episode Timeline

Hey, Scientific Guy. It's been awhile. I know you asked me to give you feedback on your AIOC Episode Timeline back in June. I was getting ready to leave to be a summer camp counselor for a month at the time, so I glanced at it, but didn't have time to look at it in-depth, or write a reply. I'm sorry I'm only now getting back to you. And, I'm sorry I haven't been around much in general like I used to be. Life has been busy the past year or so. Also, last spring I decided to take a break from modern AIO episodes (Album 51+) for awhile. I was disappointed with "The Long End", and new episodes in general, character recastings (ex: David Parker), and I was having trouble getting my Club Episode Timeline to work. I was letting New AIO stress me out too much, so I decided it would be healthy for me to take a break. So, it has been a combination of frustration, and just being busy with life that has kept me away. Well, I think it's time for break time to end. I'm curious about the recent episodes, so, I plan to listen to 67 & 68 for the first time probably in March (I want to re-listen to the albums leading up to them to get a refresh. I'll probably start with 53). Since my interest is coming back, and my life circumstances have changed a bit, if things go as planned, I will be around the wiki more often. Anyway, over the last few days, I've taken time to look over your timeline, and I do have several thoughts about it. Hopefully, you will still appreciate this.

Album II: A Call to Something More

I see that you have this album themed around the mission episodes. While this makes sense coming after "The Pilot", If I listened to what is supposed to be a regular album, and 9/12 episodes were mission themed, (I hope I'm not being too blunt) I would get bored fast. These are all exciting episodes about far off lands, but I believe if you place them all so close together, the listener will no longer care about what's happening in Africa (or wherever it's set), and will long to be back home in Odyssey. One of the main goals I had when I started my timeline, was to spread out the missions stories. This makes them feel more special, and I believe, improves the overall listening experience. Also, regarding “Mission: Unaccomplished”, you have run into the same problem I did. It takes place in the summer, but the next episode, (All By Myself) is at Christmas time. I doubt a first time listener would find that believable. And there is the issue with Zach Callison's voice. He sounds like a 16 year old here (Because, well, he was) making him way older than both Olivia and Camilla. Then, in Ties that Bind, he sounds 12 again. I understand if you want to include every episode, but I think an exception should be made in this case. It just doesn't work no matter how you slice it. I do like the episode though, I would put it in a hypothetical "Unreleased Episodes" album.

Album IV: Taking the Plunge

I liked how you put Take It on Trust at the beginning of this album, until I remembered two things. First, First Things First takes place on the same day as the last part of Ties that Bind, so you can't have anything between them. And second, Jay is in Take It on Trust, when he is supposed to be in Hollywood. I believe they mention this in Dinner Roll Models. You shouldn't here from Jay until he comes back in There and Back Again. I like your idea to mix unrelated episodes in with the "Taking The Plunge" storylines. This inspired me to move Hidden Gems & B-TV: To Tell the Truth from "Head Over Heels" to "Taking The Plunge" in my timeline. I think it's fitting to have B-TV: To Tell the Truth soon after Ties That Bind. Hopefully, 4 more episodes that work will be produced in the future to bring my #59, #60, #61, & #62 up to 12 episodes. Of course, you don't have this problem with yours. (EDIT: I decided to put Walter's Flying Bus & Where Your Treasure Is in #60 & #61, so people who want to hear them will have a place for them, but I will continue to skip them) Anyway, while I like the idea, I think going every other episode with an unrelated episode is too much, and stretches the storyline too far. I think having 2 or 3 is enough, then adding unrelated episodes at the end of the album works. I use The Cure to do this. This also spaces the mission stories out. Now, I just need a "regular" episode (No missions, Kids Radio, Imagination Station, or Wooton just to have different characters) to put between Let's Get Together and The Cure. Move The Perfect Gift to right before All By Myself. The Perfect Gift deals with collecting shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, something that happens in November. I believe "Ties that Bind" and "Taking the Plunge" happen in the spring. Also, you don't want too many Christmas episodes spread out, it will mess up the timeline and age the characters too much. I would put In a Kingdom Far Away back before Ties that Bind, since it continues the storyline of Camilla being a new christian.

Album V: Head Over Heels

Again, at first glance, I liked the idea of putting Repent After Me here, but again, you run into the problem of hearing Jay when you shouldn't. You might be able to move it to after Jay comes back, but by then I wonder if it might be a "Too much time has passed" situation, where, after not hearing him for 7 or 8 albums, hearing him for only one more episode, then still never hearing him again, could be too weird. (Note that I have There and Back Again in "64" not "62", I'll explain later) I know Things Not Seen was planned to be in #60, so I understand why you put it here. I placed it in #62 so that once Renee is introduced there aren't as many long gaps between her appearances. You don't have to do it that way though, if you don't want to. I think The Drop Box needs to stay before Ties That Bind. Eugene mentions going home to Katrina, but no mention of Buck. If Buck was living with him at this point, Eugene would have mentioned him. I also don’t like that it’s back-to-back with The Boat People, another “Foreign Lands” episode.

Album VI: Untitled

My feelings about the episodes themselves aside, you shouldn't have Walter's Flying Bus and Where Your Treasure Is right next to each other. They're too similar. The plot of both could be summarized like this: Camilla has a problem, so Whit sends her on a trip in one of his inventions, and she learns a lesson. If these were real albums, these wouldn't be placed near each other. Move one to another album. Between the Lines' placement is weird no matter what. If you look at only the album episodes you can wonder "Why is Whit at home sick from his fall in Ties That Bind if he was active and fine in Taking the Plunge? Are they implying that he has been at home in bed for all of #60 and that's why we haven't heard him til now?" Of course, when we make these custom 12 episode albums, we know he's not at home in bed the whole time. I would move "Between the Lines" up back to "Head Over Heels" so it's less weird, and so Wooton gets his house fixed sooner.

Album VII: Without a Hitch

A Perfect Testimony needs to be after The Grass is Always Greener, not before. Scott Decker in "Grass" and Jaelynn Decker in "Testimony" are husband and wife. References in "Testimony" will tell you that it needs to come after. Move Un-Tech the Halls to after Old Tricks. Snow is mentioned in Old Tricks. If you have winter shows spread out so much, Connie and the kid characters will be older than they should be, and story lines that should be moving quicker will take "years" to get through. I wouldn't put One More Name between A Very Bassett Wedding and Connie the Counselor, just so we can pick right back up right where the cliffhanger left off.

Album VIII: Let's Put on a Show!

I'm not sure why you put Angels in Horsehair before Legacy, but it needs to be after, since it's in Legacy that we are reintroduced to Tom's farm and Becky. Have a Heart needs to be moved back to "Up in the Air", because in Find a Penny, Whit says that the wedding was only 3 weeks ago. In Have a Heart, they say that Dion has been gone for 4 months. Dion was last heard in The Key Suspect, right before the wedding that was "3 weeks ago". I tried to move Have a Heart to a later album, but couldn't get it to work since it has to stay before Sir Buddy's Snowy Day (Show Buddy and Zoe as friends), which has to stay before The Shame About Fame. We can assume a few months have past between Find a Penny & Have a Heart. And, I would keep No Friend Like an Old Friend and Fathers and Sons right next to each other. Like I said, "Let's Put on a Show!" takes place in a time period of only three weeks. This is why There and Back Again cannot happen in this album. It's not believable to think that they made a 4 episode long trip all the way to New Zealand, along, with everything else going on, in only 3 weeks. Plus, Connie says that No Friend Like an Old Friend is "weeks" after Connie the Counselor. Let's say 2 weeks to make it work.

Album IX: Up in the Air

Move Sir Buddy's Snowy Day back to "Under the Surface", and put Beyond Repair right after it so, again, you have more time going by between wintertime episodes.

Album XII: Trial by Fire

I like how you switched Same Mold Story with The Sandwich Initiative so that it’s closer to Wyatt’s other episodes, so I did the same thing. But, I’m going to save Between Camp and a Hard Place and In a Sun-Scorched Land for #67 because I think “Camp” will be a good change of tone after The Long End, and so I can hear “Page from the Playbook” soon after I’ve been introduced to Mr. Calhoun. Yes, unfortunately, even though I haven’t heard #67 yet, I couldn’t stay away from the summaries and most of the cast lists. Hopefully, it will still have some good surprises for me. Please don’t tell me what happens. I’m mostly in the dark about #68 though, so I’m glad about that.

I would recommend that, wherever possible, you avoid putting episodes next to each other that are the same type (ex: Missions, Kids Radio, Imagination Station) or have the same main characters (ex: Parker kids, Wooton, Renee, even Eugene, since he’s not in a lot of episodes these days, most everyone expect Connie & Whit) Try to spread things out. This is the general rule I try to follow. Of course, there are some exceptions, mainly to do with the characters. I know I don’t do it in every case, but I think I have things spaced out well. I believe doing this improves the overall listening experience, and makes it more “Believable as Canon” if that makes sense. I hope I’m not being too harsh. You do have good ideas, you just need to work out the kinks. Sorry this is so long. I hope you find my suggestions helpful. I would also welcome any feedback you have for my Club Episode Timeline AIOrocks101 (talk) 19:14, 12 February 2020 (MST)

Question

Hey Scientific Guy! Good to see you editing again. I've been back on the wiki for the last few months and its been good to get back into the AIO world. I have a question for you. There is an issue where characters or actors with (') in their title do not show episode appearances on their page. For example: Patrick O'Ryan or Emily O'Brien. I have no idea what the issue would be, and figure that you might have an idea. Thanks. Skylerbuck (talk) 18:11, 24 June 2020 (MDT)

I briefly looked in to the dpl error in the New Episodes on the main page, however I could not figure it out. Maybe you remember that template well enough to know what is going on and can fix it? I have no idea why it is not getting album 69. Maybe related, I'm 100% sure this page should not exist. Aiow 18:28, 8 July 2020 (MDT)

Awesome. Glad it was a simple fix. Now could you (or any other admin) fix the Template:Character_appearances. To reiterate, I have the solution on the talk page. Aiow 17:31, 9 July 2020 (MDT)

Question regarding episodes

Hi! I was wondering where you get the info on the theme, genre, and Scripture for audio episodes. The reason I ask is that Stubborn Streaks has a Scripture reference to Ephesians 14:15, but that doesn't seem to make sense at all since there are only six chapters in Ephesians. Was it supposed to be Ephesians 4:1-5? Thanks in advance! htm14 (Talk) 22:06, 8 July 2020 (MDT)

Hey, I saw this and figured I would answer. Most of the themes, genres, and Scriptures originally came from other AIO fansites, such as the AIO Library, AIOHQ, and Soda Fountain. Those websites do have occasional errors. But for that episode, it appears that Ephesians 4:15 is the correct verse.

Episode Theory Page

I am working with a some of the other members on a project to create a page for members (and possibly non-members) to share theories and discuss them with each other. So, I have a couple questions. One, we would like to format the page similar to Town Hall 2, do you have permission to give out the source code for that? Second, if you do, is it OK to make it available to non-members? If not, could you provide source code similar to discussion pages for the main page? I understand if you cannot allow non-members. I just need help with source code and page setup.

Quality Pages & Awards

Hey, Scientific Guy. I was wondering if I could create some templates, or someone else create them. My two ideas are:

1: Quality Pages This would be a template like a notice saying that that page is quality and doesn't need any more work done on it.

2: Awards This would be a achievement that a user makes, like 1000 edits, or creating 100 pages. This would give motivation to users to keep working, and it would be something for people to work towards.

I understand if these won't work out, but I'd love to work on this. — Riley 17:01, 24 July 2020 (MDT)

I'd like to add to this idea, if I may: since Quality Pages would be the equivalent of "good articles" on Wikipedia, we should add other Wikipedia-esque features such as "featured articles" and a "did you know?" section. I'd be happy to contribute to both of these as much as I can. Cartoon Nostalgia 18:19, 24 July 2020 (MDT)
We actually do have featured articles on the Wiki here: Adventures in Odyssey Wiki:Featured content, although it might be a good idea to put this on the main page so more people can see it. Skylerbuck (talk) 18:27, 24 July 2020 (MDT)
I'd still like to do the awards. Do you think I can do it just for fun, by creating a sub-page with the awards, and messaging people on their talk page the awards? — Riley 17:11, 28 July 2020 (MDT)
