The Officer Harley Collection is an Adventures in Odyssey Club album that contains 12 previously unreleased episodes, all of which include Officer David Harley.

Description

Officer David Harley appeared in a number of early Adventures in Odyssey episodes. He was voiced by Will Ryan, who later went on to voice Eugene Meltsner. Harley was a bumbling policeman and the producers loved him for his comic potential, but not everyone felt the same way. After parents complained that he gave a bad impression of law enforcers, the team decided that Officer Harley should leave the show. Many of his episodes were later rewritten, retitled, and rerecorded without him. A few others were dropped completely and never aired again. Over the years, we’ve looked for a place to re-release these episodes as interesting curiosities so fans could hear the originals. And now, with the Odyssey Adventure Club, we’ve finally found the perfect place. Enjoy these episodes that haven’t been heard in more than twenty years!

Episode status

The only episodes in the The Officer Harley Collection that were previously included in an album are #3: “Lights Out at Whit's End”, #9: “Doing Unto Others”, #13: “Bobby's Valentine”, #14: “Missed It By That Much”. These episodes were all included in the original Odyssey USA (1988) album and the first release of the Adventures in Odyssey album (1988). The second release of the Adventures in Odyssey album (c. 1990) also included #3: “Lights Out at Whit's End”.

After Officer Harley was removed from the series, many of his episodes were remade or pulled from broadcast. The release of The Officer Harley Collection is the first time many of the Harley episodes have been available in 25 years.

Although references to Odyssey USA are intact on this release, all of Chris's wraparounds have been edited from the original broadcasts to remove product promotions and references to upcoming episodes.

Notes

  • In the Official Guide, Nathan Hoobler included an image from Clubhouse Magazine on the opposite page of the “Dusty Episodes” section. In other sections of the Guide, that spot where the image was had been reserved for the album image. Thus the illustration was used in this collection.
