Userbox mistake

Could an Admin delete the 2 pages [Template:Userbox/Credits|Userbox/Credits] and [Template:Userbox/ListensCredits|Userbox/ListensCredits]? I accidentally created the first one and created the second one before I realized that Mitchfan had already created it. Thanks! Gooey98 ~ (talk) 22:47, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

spoiler

What is the problem with adding all the information about the Green Ring episodes? There is the spoiler warning, so that should stop people who don't want to see. But for others (like me) who want to know now :-), why can't it be added? --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 19:14, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

HaHa, you want to know who the Stiletto is, don't you? You could have just said so. Unfortunately, we can not do this. The most important reason is the AIO team would not want us to put that info online. If we would, they would ask us to take it off, and delete all reference to it. Plus, it's for your own good. I found out who the Stiletto was accidentally before I listened to the album and really wished I hadn't. Put the album 25: Darkness Before Dawn in this situation with downloads released a month early, ect. If we put that Dr. Blackgaurd was coming back and that he was the mastermind behind the whole thing, that would ruin part of the album, because that was the major surprise in the album. The same thing applies with the Stiletto. I know it is very frustrating to not know who the Stiletto is, but just wait. When you do find out by listening to the episode, you will be glad you didn't find out earlier. Trust me. AIOCREfan ~ (talk) 21:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
It's totally worth it, believe me. 1131 Shawn Henderson 13:00, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I know I would have HATED it if I had found out before hearing part 8. Gooey98 ~ (talk) 18:35, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Past or Present?

Should the articles be written in past tense or present? Like this sentence, should it be:

  • David Holcomb was a boy at Whit's End who thought he was a failure and couldn't seem to do anything right. He later started a video production studio in California, and made a TV commercial for Whit's End.

or:

  • David Holcomb is a boy at Whit's End who thinks he's a failure and can't seem to do anything right. He later starts a video production studio in California, and makes a TV commercial for Whit's End.

--Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 14:12, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I think we are doing past tense for character articles and present tense for episode plots. AIOCREfan ~ (talk) 22:56, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
that's the way I've been doing it, all character pages should be past as it's a look back over what they've done and episodes should be in present. Reddo 17:17, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

slow again

It is getting really slow. My internet connection is fine (I can get tp any other website in a flash) but it takes about one minute to get to a page and even longer to save one! I get the refresh thing for almost every page! Why? Sorry about always complaining... --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 16:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

thanks, i looked at the server logs only thing i can see is the server was looking for images that jared shouldn't have deleted 2187 times in the last day, i've restored them now, I don't see anything else on our end that looks like it could be causing a problem. I can however see that the refresh page was displayed 258 this weekend, hopefully the images being back will fix it.
our upcoming upgrade to 1.17 is said to make things faster so that should help but they're still doing bug fixing on it. I think they're hoping for a march/april release on it, so we should know soon Reddo 17:14, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Way to organize the trivia facts

Hey. I was just wondering if there may be a better way to organize the information about the characters. Adventures inodysseylego ~ (talk) ~ (Guestbook) 18:56, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

I wondered that too. Especially Wooton's trivia. Pehraps some of his would be better in quote form, since he's such a random character. We don't need every "odd" fact about him...--Isaiah 40:31but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. Cover Artwork for Album 54

The cover artwork for Clanging Symbols...-Album 54 has been released on the Official Podcast, you need a password to see it. (removed)

Could we put a message on the upload page asking users not to upload the artwork for Album 54? I don't think we should let anyone upload it until fans have had a chance to solve the puzzle and view it on the Official Website themselves.
Edit: Oh, and I changed the title of Album 54 (and related links/redirects) to match the title that was given with the preview of Album 54's cover. — Eugene [talk] 06:29, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

List of Official Podcasts

This list is several months behind, if anyone would want to update it. Erwin Springer [talk] 01:40, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

yeah I've noticed that i've been busy with school lately though, here's a list of the things that i think need doing, for those that have time
  1. make redirect pages for album 533 episodes, eg 679 and 679: The Green Ring Conspiracy, Part 1‎ should both be made to redirect to The Green Ring Conspiracy, Part 1‎ along with the other 12 episodes.
  2. update the list of Official podcasts currently the last one we have is october 2010
  3. plot details on 680
that's what i can come up with right now that's easy, if anybody could work on them that'd be great Reddo 16:07, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
I'll start with the episode redirects and I'll try to get the podcast list updated. If I have time I'll also tackle the plot for 680. — Eugene [talk] 17:52, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
1. Check.svg Done I have created episode number redirects for Album 53 and added categories to the redirects for Album 52 and 51. Next, the podcast list... — Eugene [talk] 19:22, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

account requests

Okay, so I've now finished getting the account creation system to my liking, it took longer than i would have liked just with testing things but it should work to continue keeping spam levels at a minimum. I tried going back to the old system only to be met with spam again in only a day or two. So here are the changes:

  1. new users are required to give and confirm an email address
  2. an admin has to confirm them

I don't think that either of these are that big of a deal, almost everybody has an email address now and i've tried to make it easy for admins to confirm people.

Originally only beurecrats could confirm requests but it's now open to all admins. when there is a request open you'll see a little message in the top corner of all pages like this:

File:Account request.png

click on the link it it and then on open requests, there you'll be presented with a list of all the accounts waiting to be created, when you click on one you'll be presented with the info they've entered an a few options confirm, reject, hold or spam. There should never be a reason to reject or hold an account, only time we should mark it as spam is if the email looks fishy such as a..b.c1...2.3@gmail.com as that's the format that the last batch of spammers had, but if in doubt ask. does this all seem okay to everyone? any further suggestions? i want it to be easy and quick like the default sign up but still block out the spammers Reddo 21:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Looks like a wonderful system! Great job! Erwin Springer [talk] 22:39, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Just used it and it works perfectly. Very easy to use! Great job Reddo! I'm sure this system will help you out a lot! AIOCREfan ~ (talk) 19:43, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Character Ratings

This subject was discussed a while ago, but I don't remember where, so I just thought I'd put it here. I don't think that the rating of a character should be based on the episodes they're in. There are some characters that I don't like at all, but I would still give an episode they're in a high rating, because I liked the episode. Clearly though, writers should be rated on the rating of their episodes because how good an episode is reflects on how good the writer is. Gooey98 00:40, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

I think the same thing too. I talked about actor's ratings on here before. Adventures inodysseylego ~ (talk) ~ (Guestbook) 17:18, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Faith Launch

On the Album Special Edition for Faith Launch, the cover artwork is shown as purple. However, I own this album, and mine is pink. Were there two editions, or is that just a bad picture? Gooey98 20:56, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

They are probably just different editions. Focus on the Family has done this with several albums. With album 27, there were three different colors that were used. God Bless ~ Nate ~ Talk 21:16, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

you can use the upload file link on the left hand side in the tool box, or you can just link to use a file like normal even though it doesn't exist, then when you save/preview there will be a red link instead of the file, click the red link and upload your file from there Reddo 00:53, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Avery Award causing formatting error

On The Mystery of the Clock Tower, Part 1, the Avery Award is causing a huge gap between the top of the page and the episode summary. Is this just my computer or can other people see this problem? summary of episodes in 54

I know there's rumors going on about the plot of episodes in 54, DON'T TRUST THEM, i undid one edit this morning where the summary was taken from a fan blog, I think they were just getting ready for april fool's and hit the post button early. It's evident that they're fake as the summaries reference album 53 and paul has said 54 pretends that 53 never ever happened and instead 55 will pick up after 53. Anyways if you hear things about episodes/summaries in the next few days, don't trust it Reddo 16:21, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

That makes sense - I'll keep watch for other false info ... However, is there any way that we can do anything for April Fool's Day this year? Such as some bogus new episode or something? Erwin Springer [talk] 21:05, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
If we're gonna do something, we'd better do it now. I was thinking of maybe a fake contest where you find something that ends up saying "April Fools!" or "Remember I Slap Floor?" or "You've been April Fooled!". Gooey98 ~ (talk) 17:45, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Album Images

I am trying hard to devise and develop a template system to categorize and name our album images. I’ve outline here, what I think this will work.

When you come across album art for a series album (The Lost Episodes through 53), name the file using the syntax outlined on this page. Tag the image with {{Album Image}}. The template will automatically assign the correct categories, if the image is named correctly. This is the easier part and most of it is already done.

For other series-oriented albums Life Lessons, classics, etc.), name album art files something sensible such as Series Name##.ext. Seires Name could be something like "Life Lessons" or "Classics", ## is the number of the series (if there are less than 10, don't zero pad it), and ext is the file extension - usually a jpg. On the actual pages of these images, use {{Album Image|album=album name|series=series name}}, where the album name is the name of the album, and series name is the name of the series.

For oddball albums such as samplers, Passages, and the Novacom Saga, just name the file what the album is called followed by and identifier such as "front", "back", or “3d”. Tag it like a series album, but don't include the series parameter in the template.

Here are the tasks that need to be completed to achieve this goal:

  • Tag EVERY album image with {{Album Image}}. Add parameters to non-series albums.
  • Rename all album images to more sensible names.
  • Rename series album art to coincide with this and locate the more obscure tape artwork. (I’ll work on uploading some.)
  • Update album pages to include all artwork that we have uploaded. These can be found by the categories created by tagged images. May be we can create and an auto-gallery template to display art on a page.
  • Categorize newly created categories.

Thanks to Eugene and Stop Wooton for starting to organize these files! Hopefully this system will us be more organized in the future! Remember that the “Summary:” field on Special:Upload will become the text of the page when you upload an image, so you can stick the {{Album Image}} in there. Erwin Springer [talk] 21:36, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Could the person (probably Nate) who created the 3D images of the Gold Audio Albums please re-upload proper versions of File:063d.png and File:073d.png? I just removed the white from the jpg version and it doesn't look the greatest. Thanks!
Edit: And could an admin please fix my mistake with File:DoublePlay.jpg? I accidentally moved the back to where the front was supposed to go, and now I can't move the front to where it's supposed to go. (So an admin needs to delete the redirect at File:Sampler-double-play-front.jpg and then move File:DoublePlay.jpg to it.) Thanks!
Edit: Is there a way to automatically isolate the words "sampler" and "front" from this file name? File:Sampler-double-play-front.jpg It would be easier if the Album Image template could automatically detect if the image is a sampler instead of putting a variable in every image. If not, that's okay. I can go through all of the sampler images and add a variable in. Thanks! — Eugene [talk]
In general this labeling consistency is good, but at the same time it has caused some alternate covers to disappear from the site. I still wish that the "old" album 16-42 CD artwork was separated by "Tyndale" and "Tommy-Nelson" for consistency, such as XXfront-old.jpg for the original release, and XXfront-old-tyndale.jpg for the short-lived 2003 rereleases (most, but not all of the images on the site are now the Tyndale versions). Some alt versions of cassettes for 1-17 are now deleted from the site too.
The other question is image size and source. Is the goal to eventually replace the low-res images with large ones where possible? When are larger scanned images preferred to official low-res publisher releases? Odyssey123 22:24, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
So do files like File:AmazingStoriesSeries1.jpg need to be moved to File:AmazingStoriesSeries1front.jpg? Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 22:58, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Odyssey123, great idea! I forgot about the publisher problem. I'll add the Tyndale name scheme to the template.
I think most of the alternative versions of albums I uploaded a few years ago were deleted by well-meaning users, but we can certainly re-upload/restore those. Also, I believe that higher res images are better. If possible, I think we should utilize the art provided by official sites (CBD, Whit's End, etc.), but if none are available or there are none available at decent quality, then we can use scans
Wooton, I don't think that's necessary, but I suppose if you really want to, you could. Erwin Springer [talk] 00:13, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay good because that is a lot of moves. However, I am moving them for the special albums. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 00:36, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
P.S. All of the special albums are done. P.S.S. I reached 10,000 edits while working on this! Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 02:26, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

I've added info to and fixed more album images (and this: Category:Uncategorized Album Art is now down to only 9 items). I also re-uploaded some images so that they'll all be in JPG format and 3Ds are in PNG. I also moved some images to make more sense (especially if both a front and a back exist). All samplers should now look like this: Sampler-title-goes-here-in-lowercase-front.jpg.

I don't think we should fix all of the mainstream album page galleries until after we're done sorting everything (then we can create a template for that like Erwin suggested). Oh, and album image categories now go under Category:Album Images by Album and series categories go under Category:Album Images by Series to prevent the Album Images category from getting all messy. I'll keep at this tomorrow. — Eugene [talk] 06:50, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

We recently had the 100,000 edit celebration deal, so I think we'll hold off for something like that for article count. However, when we reach 2,000 articles, the event will definitely be news-worthy. Erwin Springer [talk] 00:16, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Unbecoming Jay description

Where did the description for "Unbecoming Jay" come from?Gooey98 ~ (talk) 23:40, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea Reddo 23:49, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Redirects

So should pages that have Wooton as a link should these be linked to Wooton Bassett|Wooton? If so that is a lot of edits to have to change all of those especially when you take in account for Whit, Connie, and Eugene. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 21:37, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I think that they should. Realistically, we can't go through and fix every link link this. So I think that we should just leave the existing links as they are, but point any new links to the actual article (not a redirect to that article) like you said. — Eugene [talk] 00:26, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Ideally they should be linked like "Wooton Bassett|Wooton", but as Eugene said, we shouldn't worry about going through and convert every link that doesn't follow this pattern. Erwin Springer [talk] 01:43, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
I'll work on the small redirects however under, List of Redirects. Because like you've said that is a ton of work to do bigger characters but characters like Butch (Brian Evans) only had like 17 so I went ahead and did that one. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 02:57, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
I've been going through ep pages and fixing that, plus other stuff. should I continue? --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 15:50, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Go ahead! I was just saying that we shouldn't make it a top priority. Thanks! — Eugene [talk] 17:46, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Sure thing! --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 17:53, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Main Page

Whenever I try to go to the main page, a message come up instead that says "Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'aiowiki'@'epiphone.dreamhost.com' (using password: YES) in /home/aiowiki/aiowiki/w/extensions/RatingBar/config.php on line 70 Error: " Why is it doing this? Yeah I'm getting it too. --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 18:05, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
It's working normal now. Gooey98 ~ (talk)
I was just gonna post the same thing! P.S. I'M 14! Having a great B-day! --Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
can't say for sure as it's not happening anymore but I'd guess it was left over from the patching shadowpaw and i did this morning, we had to break some things to get to get things working properly and I'm guessing the main page was cached when that was going on resulting in that error message, but then when it was repeatedly requested it recached it and since the database had been fixed it was able to generate the page correctly again. Just a guess though, let me know if you see anything else weird
PS happy birthday Reddo 18:57, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Hey Reddo, I thought Shadowpaw wasn't active anymore. Is he/she active again, or did he/she just help you? Gooey98 ~ (talk) 19:18, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
He's not active, he was just helping me out as he has access to reconfigure somethings on the server that i don't have access to. Reddo 21:42, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
