Official Podcast

Does anybody know where Focus put the official podcasts 71 and 72? They don't show up in their RSS Feed, nor does it show up under the normal audio location. Did they just remove them completely, because it doesn't even show up in the blog. God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 04:26, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

hmm interesting, I use google reader to keep track of feeds like this for me and episodes 71 and 72 are still showing up however there is no audio for them, I'll send one of my contacts at focus and e-mail and ask about it. Reddo 04:48, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Odyssey Vault

Does anyone know what the code at the end of the Vault pages means? For example http://www.whitsend.org/vault/A000000134.cfm takes you to Whit's Flop but what does this 3 digit code mean? God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 05:26, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

It is very much hit an miss with those. Don't try to figure it out, I tried once and got very confused. I think those links have to be done manually. Erwin Springer [talk] 12:42, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

McCalister or McAlister?

Is the name McCalister spelled wil two c's or one. Stop Wooton Around 01:02, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

According to the Adventures in Odyssey Platinum Collection 1st Magazine/Folder it is McCalister.Kenan24 03:14, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
According to the Official Guide it is McAlister. So I am changing it. Stop Wooton Around 00:33, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Sidebar links

If anyone has some time, look here and you'll see which episode pages needed the links section converted into a sidebar section. Erwin Springer [talk] 13:42, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Categories

Ever since I found out that padding and using ths sub parser can enable you to pick out text. ({{#sub:{{padright:Album 01: The Adventure Begins|50}}|6|-42}}) I thought it would be possible to create one single template called something like {{cat}} which we could figure out where the {{{1}}} is in the title, so categories could esily be created. Erwin Springer [talk] 12:28, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

But to elminat emultiple templates, so when categories populate again (and they will), they can be created more easily. Erwin Springer [talk] 16:23, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
There are now no wanted categories. Stop Wooton Around 15:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Errors

I've been seeing a few errors when loading pages around the wiki (see link below). I don't know if it's my computer or what, but I thought I should let everyone know!

bible verses

I know I haven't been very active lately, but that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about things here. I've been thinking lately about how we're doing the bible verse sections of the of the episode pages. it seems like it is a lot of work and that there will be a lot of overlap, eg. an episode with a reference of Luke 1 and then another one with just Luke 1:12. with the current way we would have 2 copies of the verse of Luke 1:12 one in the entire chapter of Luke 1 and the other one by itself. I think we can do this easier with using section transclusion, I made an example of an entire book here and then transcluded part of it over to here basing it on the same format as the way verses are entered into episode pages right now. it still needs a bit of work, (doesn't work with Luke 1:11-12) but with a minor edit to the infobox and some hand fixing on episode pages it shouldn't be too hard to fix up. creating the scripture pages shouldn't be to hard, using a combination of e-sword (a free bible program), excel, and some vb programming in excel it took me only about 20 seconds to do 2 John. Any comments on this? should we start going ahead with it or should we stick with the way it is? Reddo 20:12, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Sounds Great. I was thinking that in the future that we might have to categorize ALL of the bible verse template for 600+ episodes. This will be a great idea. Erwin Springer [talk] 21:03, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
I REALLY like this method. That is so much better and easier than the way we're doing it now! Spiderman 01:38, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Sounds incredible to me. Good incredible, I meant of course. Rachel Maxwell 05:24, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
okay so it sounds like we're going to change it to this way, we just need to decide what version to use. I know we were thinking about using NIV last time it came up, however this is unavailable on esword, (copyright or something) so unless anybody wants to go through and do the scripture pages the long/hard way we need to come up with a new version. I would suggest the ESV it's a bit newer than the NIV and it seems to be a more open tranlsation as it's available for free almost everywhere Reddo 19:51, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
What are we using esword for that we can't use bible gateway for? If it's easier I guess I don't see a problem with using a different version but I would rather we stick with NIV. What ones are available for esword? Spiderman 20:07, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
I was going to use esword as it formats the verses alot better than bible gateway does, it puts one verse on each line which makes it easier to write a script that can add the needed formating in. the free translations available on esword are
  • American Standard Version
  • Bible in Basic English
  • Contemporary English Version
  • Douay-Rheims Bible
  • English Standard Version
  • Good News Translation
  • GOD'S WORD
  • International Standard Version
  • Jewish Publication Society Old Testament
  • King James Version
  • King James Version (Red Letter)
  • King James Version (w/ Strong's)
  • King James Version (w/ Apocrypha)
  • Literal Translation of the Holy Bible
  • Modern King James Version
  • Revised Version
there is also the possibility that there is another place that has niv where it has every verse on it's own line, anybody know of such a place? Reddo 20:21, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
I got the NIV version of esword so I can put up the verses on the wiki so you can format them how you want. Or I could send you the file but i'm not sure of the legality of that. Are we putting them up as chapters or books? cause some books are really long. Spiderman 04:35, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
If you want to just put them up I can take care of the formating, I think it would be easier if we kept it as entire books, the genesis page is 240kb (longest would be psalm at ~ 300) and if you load the entire page it takes a few seconds but if you just take a few verses out it seems to load fairly quickly. Reddo 23:27, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
I put up the niv text on the Genesis page and Exodus page. If you want it formated any differently let me know. Spiderman 01:43, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
I made a chart here of all the books that are up and formatted to make it easier. Spiderman 02:20, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

aiowiki.com fetching program

I'm pretty new here but I managed to slap together a program that can retrieve information from aiowiki.com using the special:export function. All that the program can do now is get information about Whit's Flop but the information is not organized in any fashion. File:AIO Fetch1.JPG Kenan24 06:01, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

So was a program that actually wrote, or a program that uses the export tool? And if it's something you you wrote, what programing language did you use? Erwin Springer [talk] 16:14, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
I wrote this program using C#.NET. It get's information using special:export.Kenan24 17:20, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
looks interesting, but if you don't mind me asking, what purpose does it have? Reddo 08:03, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
It can be used for quick research or if you just don't want to get on the site. It will have more purpose once I'm able to seperate the tags.Kenan24 23:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Category:Album Images

So I uploaded all of the tape album backs and put them under ##back-tape.jpg. Unfortunately I did not know about this template, so I just put Category:Old Album backs on the page. Then I found the template and put Template:albumimage by accident. Help? God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 02:03, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Navigation

I think that we should come up with something new for the navigation on the right side of the home page. It looks a little strange centered to the right. Maybe we could have a show/hide thing that says something like "Places of Interest [show]". God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 01:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

We need moar fandom lievlihud

(Translation: WE NEED SHIPPING WARS!)

E.G. (when you start a sentence with e.g.--which I don't think you're supposed to do anyway--is it capitalized?): Katene vs. Eugonnie--canon vs. fanon. Whoever guesses which ships I based these names and canon/fanon status off of wins cookies (look at my user page if aid is needed--I plan to update it to where it's actually a PROFILE!). Just a thought. It would be fun to debate about ships, because, unlike certain forums (koff-Avatar-koff), we can be MATURE. And if miracles happen and my idea works, we could have said shipping wars on my talk page (I have no qualms about my talk page morphing into a talk page/mini forum). TigerintheShadows 20:53, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

That just doesn't sound very appropriate for a wiki site. I don't know, just my opinion.Kenan24 02:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I have no idea what he's talking about, could someone explain? Erwin Springer [talk] 03:14, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I didn't either. This kinda explains it on wikipedia Shipping (Fandom)Kenan24 03:18, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
-le shrug- I said it was an idea, and that for it to work, a miracle would have to take place. Besides, to paraphrase TobyMac, this ain't no ordinary wiki XD. And we are a fairly large chunk of le fandom. By the way, is anyone going to answer my question at the top? --TigerintheShadows 18:28, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
You never start a sentence with a relative pronoun, which is what "Which" is God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 03:40, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Reviews

Cryin' Bryan the Jerk July 31st 2009 I was wondering, would it be OK if we did Reviews for episodes. Normally I'd ask this in the Odyssey Gazette, but apparently some people don't like my writing. So, what do say about that? P.S I am going to write this in the gazette to attract more people.

reviews are generally not allowed on the episode page, however you can do them on your user page and sub pages, if FOTF asks you to review it we'll put a link to the review on the page of the item that your reviewing Reddo 06:39, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Character and Video recategorization

I'm trying to clean up some categories as we have focused on episodes and not videos for so long that the videos have become disorganized. I was also thinking that instead of putting the characters category in the main AIO category, we could put seperate ones in the videos and episode categories. Erwin Springer [talk] 16:09, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Take it From the Top

Where did the image for Album 51 come from? God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 06:03, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Canadian uploaded it. He's from Tyndale. See here for more info. Erwin Springer [talk] 13:03, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, personally, I think it looks AWESOME. Love the logo, as well as how the album is compared to Back on the Air. Although, you must admit, Darkness Before Dawn has nothing on what I have dubbed The Hiatus Horrors (insert cliche horror music and wolf howl here). XDDDDD--TigerintheShadows 02:04, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm more than 100% sure that it isn't the final art though. Erwin Springer [talk] 02:57, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure of that as well, not only because they mentioned it at the site where it is found, but because the usual surrounding border is absent. However, it looks good now, so who really knows how PWNSOME it's going to look when the final art is released? --TigerintheShadows 18:33, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't know who, but someone deleted the the artwork for Album 51 that Canadian uploaded. AIOCREFan 15:06, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
I did, Focus doesn't want it up yet. It's off the scoop too. Erwin Springer [talk] 17:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
it wasn't focus, it was tyndale 20:58, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Bible Verses Episdoes Template

Do you guys think that we should just change the episode template to just link to Bible Gateway for now just to clean up the wanted pages? Then when the new system is complete, we could change it again. God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 15:02, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Episodes needing cast lists? HAH!

I have spent, like, ages inputting characters and actors into ALL the episodes requiring them. And let me tell you guys: IT. IS. ANYTHING. BUT. EASY. Especially since I got finished about a minute ago and over here, we're getting into the wee hours of the mornin'. But it all paid off. All the episodes should have cast lists. --TigerintheShadows 06:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

WOW! If I could give you a medal I would! In fact, here's my attempt at giving you a Barnstar like they do on wikipedia. You're supposed to put it in your user page I beileve. Erwin Springer [talk] 13:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Barnstar Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

For finishing episode cast sections. Erwin Springer [talk] 13:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

New Project

I am going to try to go through all of the characters to make sure:

  1. They have the right actors.
  2. Create new caracters that are not on the Aiowiki.

Stop Wooton Around 01:20, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

That may take a long long time, but if you're up to it, have fun. Let me know if a large number of pages need something done, and I can use a bot. Erwin Springer [talk] 02:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
You know, we can always do this the old-fashioned way...perhaps Erwin can do, like, half, and, say, I do the other? I want to help make this wiki, like, awesome, so I want to do as much as I can. --TigerintheShadows 03:36, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
There's plenty that can't be done by bot so I would say that there is no need for extra work. If you want something to do, check the wanted pages, just don't create the bible verse pages, we are currently working on a new system. God Bless ~ Natedude24~ My Talk 05:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
