Inactivity of users of AIO Wiki

Hello all. It's been a while since I was on here. noticed not much goes on anymore. Is there anyone from the old days still on here? And to any new users on here, welcome! Thank you for taking an interest in this website. - Sunnys <BIBLE|-- ~Talk~

Welcome back, Sunnys. Not everyone's around all the time, but I'm here a lot, also is OdysseyFan. Reddo is all settled in in Brazil, so I think he's writing from there. Jesusboy03, Eugene, AIOrocks101, and Peachey Keen have popped in and out. I'm a sysop now so I don't have to bug Reddo about editing protected pages. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:15, 1 July 2016 (MDT)
I'm still here from way back in the day, more active than I was a year ago Reddo (talk) 09:48, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
I still come around (never really left) and edit things. Although not sure if 2012 counts as "The old days." Aiow 21:35, 25 July 2016 (MDT)
ahem: To me, 2013 is the Good Old Days. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:48, 26 July 2016 (MDT)
you two are so young talking about 2012/13 as the old days :) Reddo (talk) 19:14, 26 July 2016 (MDT)
Well in terms of editing volume 2012/2013 are the old days for me. But yeah, I just magically reappeared like a bad headache...Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:48, 12 August 2016 (MDT)

Did someone mention me? Jesusboy03 (Talk) 16:08, 21 September 2016 (MDT)

All I said was that you were still here and making edits. And by the way, you really need to put {{subst:nosubst|User:Jesusboy03/sig}} in your preferences under signature; the code that it is right now is way too long Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:30, 22 September 2016 (MDT)

Is this better? Jesusboy03 (Talk) 15:13, 1 October 2016 (MDT)

Mediawiki 1.27

lockdown and confirm account are broken - need mediawiki to update them
Check.svg Donemain page js broken
Check.svg Donecase insensitive search
Check.svg Donebroken theme in call pages

I updated the server tonight to the latest mediawiki, please list any errors you find here, this update enables the case insensitive autocomplete search some users were wanting, I'm sure there's lots more but it's late and I'm going to bed Reddo (talk) 20:33, 23 July 2016 (MDT)

I'm planning on leaving the server run like this for about a week and we'll see if any problems pop up, if everything is still good next weekend I'll update the server to run php 7 which is supposed to be faster and more efficient (YAY!) If you're interested here's a chart of php versions and their preformance (chart) I just don't want to be troubleshooting more than I have to Reddo (talk) 20:41, 23 July 2016 (MDT)

Our old system of having users request accounts is currently broken, I've disabled it for now, if it becomes a problem that we get a bunch of spam users creating accounts I'll block it again, Also I've removed a bunch of old admin accounts, security risk if a spammer broke into them and they don't seem to be using them anyways, lockdown is just used to stop people from reading the full bible pages, I don't think it's a huge deal for now but I will add it back when it's supported Reddo (talk) 11:04, 24 July 2016 (MDT)

Love it! having to Capitalize My Search Correctly was annoying... ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 13:48, 24 July 2016 (MDT)
I made changes on the Administrators page. Case sensitivity is still present (typing in Mandy s yields nothing), you fixing that still? Thanks a bunch anyway Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:54, 24 July 2016 (MDT)
The Character Timeline creator page throws this error when trying to generate a character timeline.
Fatal error: Call to undefined method User::getSkin() in /home/aiowiki/aiowiki.com/w/extensions/Call/Call_body.php on line 210
The Episode Intersection, Album Characters, Character Intersection pages also have this same error. I expect this may have something to do with the site upgrade. Aiow 21:33, 25 July 2016 (MDT)
I fixed that skin problem, just a quick hack it now loads the default skin instead of the user skin, but really, default is the best one anyways :). Thanks for finding that. The search is working if you do mandy S, which it didn't before, I'll look into that Reddo (talk) 06:33, 26 July 2016 (MDT)
js on the main page for making news articles is fixed, case insensitive search works with mandy s all lower case, also all the javascript warnings that used to pop up in the js console are all gone (this last one was a real pain, but I'm going to sleep better knowing they're all fixed :) ) Reddo (talk) 19:16, 26 July 2016 (MDT)
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Aiowiki link on the home page is kicking this error

Fatal error: Class 'Wikimedia\PhpSessionSerializer' not found in /home/aiowiki/aiowiki.com/w/includes/session/PHPSessionHandler.php on line 161

~ OdysseyFan (talk) 12:50, 31 July 2016 (MDT)
feed burner should be fixed, not sure how many people still use it Reddo (talk) 16:20, 1 August 2016 (MDT)
wow, the last thing in feedburner was from 2014, how did it go broken for that long? Reddo (talk) 16:52, 1 August 2016 (MDT)
ratings are still being saved, but they aren't being tied to the user that made them, so you always see the message "you did not rate this item" Not sure if I can fix this easily, might have to re-write the whole thing, the code is a mess, not really sure what to do Reddo (talk) 09:13, 4 August 2016 (MDT)

Suggested a "Applesauce Easter Egg" For the Applesauce page

So I was thinking about this, and What if, whenever someone types in "Applesauce" in the search function, wouldn't it be cool if the screen turned black and had the words, "Press any key to continue" written across the middle of the screen? Once they tap or click the screen, it would open up the regular page! If you wanted to take it even farther, the person would be asked to provide a password. It would give him or her ten seconds to try an figure out the password, then it would open up the regular page! Just a thought. Arista Maxwell (talk) 10:04, 27 July 2016 (MDT)

Welcome to the Wiki, Arista! I'm not sure that's exactly the kind of thing that goes on a Wiki:
The purpose of any wiki is to be a compilation of information. [A] page [that] doesn't contribute anything to the wiki... therefore doesn't really belong here.

Reddo, November 6th 2014

(Good words, there, Reddo.) That, Arista, would be something to go on another fansite. However, I may try to develop something like that someday... Anyway, I hope you will contribute well! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:42, 27 July 2016 (MDT) that was a good quote. Thanks for sharing that! I'll probably go write it down in a rule book somewhere XD. But anyways, too bad the Applesauce thing won't work. Thank you for answering though! Arista Maxwell (talk) 16:41, 27 July 2016 (MDT)

Do and Don't page

I think that it would be beneficial if we had a COMPLETE page for the users saying what you should or shouldn't, can or can't, post. Or like a pdf that you could send to everyone, just so you have a guideline of what to post. What is good and acceptable and perfect. «« Romans 12:2b and how on earth am I supposed to get rid of an accidental upload?? Arista Maxwell (talk) 12:33, 28 July 2016 (MDT)

I don't really think that an uploading guide is necessary, but at least try to make sure that there's a good reason for uploading. As for accidental uploads, just edit the page and put {{delete}} on it, and an admin will delete it after a while. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:59, 29 July 2016 (MDT)

Error

Reddo, Erwin,

I'm getting this weird error every once in a while on the wiki. I get kicked off the wiki for ~5 min. All other websites work, and I can still ping the site with command prompt. Know what's happening? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:54, 30 July 2016 (MDT)

I'm not sure, I've been getting that too I don't think it's a problem i can fix, the wiki's on a shared server so it might be another site taking the server down for a few minutes. When i get that message I've noticed that some of Shadowpaw's other sites (ToO, aiosf, aiohq) are usually down Reddo (talk) 16:30, 30 July 2016 (MDT)
Just for my two cents, this has also been happening to me. More so when I do bulk edits, which as Reddo says points to a server issue. Google Chrome usually returns a "aiowiki took too long to respond." After waiting a bit, it will refresh and I am good to go. Also, I pinged the site and I noticed occasionally it returns a time of 400+ ms instead of the normal 64-66. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 21:12, 7 August 2016 (MDT)
Shadowpaw will look into this next week when he gets home from school, I'll be visiting my sister that I haven't seen for 2 years in Africa (leaving for Kenya tomorrow afternoon) and will be without internet for a while. If there's anything urgent you need he can probably do it, I don't think there'll be anything breaking that will come up though, wiki's been running pretty smooth other than this issue. Reddo (talk) 19:54, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
Is this still happening? we tracked down what the problem is (high ram usage on the mysql server) but we haven't figured why it's happening yet Reddo (talk) 09:31, 3 September 2016 (MDT)
Yes, it appears that it still is happening. I double-checked what Wooton said and verified it, though most of the time when I do a ping when it's down I still get the normal 16-17ms. Only sometimes it makes triple digits. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:19, 3 September 2016 (MDT)
We think the reason that ping works and that the site doesn't is ping doesn't load any content, so the mysql server where the problem is doesn't have to respond, next time it happens if you could try ping data.aiowiki.com and let me know what happens that would be great Reddo (talk) 15:54, 3 September 2016 (MDT)

Facebook admin

anyone interested in running the wiki's facebook page? I don't really do facebook Reddo (talk) 16:50, 1 August 2016 (MDT)

I'd like to; I need to think about it for a day or two, though. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:59, 1 August 2016 (MDT)
I am a new admin. Thanks Reddo ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 13:31, 2 August 2016 (MDT)
Thanks Odyssey Fan, Scientific Guy if you want I can add you to it too Reddo (talk) 10:04, 3 August 2016 (MDT)
I thought about it, my life is a bit too busy at the moment to be doing something like that. Maybe next year though. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:00, 3 August 2016 (MDT)

calendar

what about something where we have date specific episodes, like today The Pact takes place, this would be separate from the radio schedule pages Reddo (talk) 13:04, 2 August 2016 (MDT)

like this? http://www.odysseyfan.com/Calendar.htm ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 13:27, 2 August 2016 (MDT)
Yes something like that but with more things on it, and only things that happen in the series, things like air dates that happen in "our world" would not be included, just an idea I had based on a facebook post I saw Reddo (talk) 10:03, 3 August 2016 (MDT)
Ok I also wrote an article a long time ago that references TIMEs it would be neat if we had a clock image with links to to times referenced in the series... but most DATES are not referenced in the series are they? seems like we use the air dates to work that date out, like Eugene Katrina wedding, death dates... ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 10:21, 3 August 2016 (MDT)

PHP 7

fix list:

  • Check.svg Done widget extension
  • Check.svg Done mysqli error with rating bar

Since the site seemed to be fairly stable with mediawiki 1.27 I pushed forward and updated to PHP 7, the site seems faster to me, please report any and all errors here, thanks Reddo (talk) 10:01, 3 August 2016 (MDT)

ERROR ERROR ERROR!! Try editing and then saving Like a Good Neighbor. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:10, 3 August 2016 (MDT)
Promises, Promises, Sergeant York, Part 2, Happy Hunting, The Cure, Part 2 B-TV: To Tell the Truth, Pinocchio: The Tale of a Foolish Puppet, Part 2, Walter's Flying Bus Between the Lines, Part 1 and a lot of other episodes aren't working. Looks like all episodes have this error in the infobox: "Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_real_escape_string() in /home/aiowiki/aiowiki.com/w/extensions/RatingBar/doqueries.php:36 Stack trace: #0 {main} thrown in /home/aiowiki/aiowiki.com/w/extensions/RatingBar/doqueries.php on line 36" The ratings page isn't working. AIOrocks101 (talk) 15:04, 3 August 2016 (MDT)
thanks, those have been fixed, I guess I missed a few lines when I was updating it myself the extension isn't supported anymore. Let me know if there's anything else Reddo (talk) 18:21, 3 August 2016 (MDT)
I'm downgrading back to 5.6, the json api for the audio player app is having some issues with php 7 that will take time to fix Reddo (talk) 15:08, 4 August 2016 (MDT)
Okay, so the weird text is back in the infobox. I see you installed Semantic-Mediawiki, what does it do special (besides a pop-up on the edit page)? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:39, 4 August 2016 (MDT)
I'm trying to re-write part of the rating bar to store the userID, it didn't go well the text that was showing up was me, semantic mediawiki was me trying another rating bar thing, but it's not what we wanted sadly Reddo (talk) 19:36, 4 August 2016 (MDT)

Capitalization Issues

So I have noticed some inconsistencies with the capitalization of the word with when used in an episode title. Not only on our site but among all AIO sites. Example: All's Well With Boswell vs The Trouble with Girls. Adventures in Odyssey Library and the Official Site capitalize "with" in both cases where as the Odyssey Scoop and AIOHQ do not. So which should it be? Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:24, 12 August 2016 (MDT)

I found a second issue in capitalization which is Camp What-a-Nut or Camp What-A-Nut? On the official website the title of the episode is Camp What-a-Nut but they refer to the actual place as Camp What-A-Nut. AIO Lib does the same thing. Should we follow that practice, despite the fact that is horribly inconsistent? Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:37, 12 August 2016 (MDT)

Website Crash

So has anyone else noticed this, that after a little while the website will simply "refuse to connect"? Sometimes I will be at the homepage of aiowiki.com then I will click something else and it shows a warning sign. That sign says it refuses to connect. Check your connection or reload the page. I reload because I have great wifi. Nothing happens. Anyone know why this is happening? I can't edit things sometimes because of that. AristaMaxwell (talk) 08:02, 26 August 2016 (MDT)

One other thing, it seems to be happening with the mobile website, not desktop. :·| AristaMaxwell (talk) 08:21, 26 August 2016 (MDT)
If you reference 6 sections up, this is a known issue on we believe the server side of things. The same thing happens to me, but if I wait 1-2 minutes and refreshes it always comes back. Since Reddo suspects it's server side, he was going to have Shadowpaw look at it. I am not sure if anything came of that. So, in short it's a known issue and usually waiting a bit will bring it back. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 08:53, 26 August 2016 (MDT)
Thank you. I believe I shall go check 6 sections up. ;D AristaMaxwell (talk) 09:23, 26 August 2016 (MDT)

Edit episode pages

When editing episode pages to include the buy links (amazon and iTunes) should we remove the old itunes and audible data?
Here is an example.

| itunes=286625167
| audible=295

Aiow 05:30, 1 September 2016 (MDT)

yes, airdate, last_year month and day can also be removed Reddo (talk) 08:55, 1 September 2016 (MDT)
Also, year itself can be removed if the episode originally aired in that year Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:55, 1 September 2016 (MDT)

new user spam

how have things been with the new users and spam? do we need to go back to the old system of having to approve accounts? there's an update that fixes the request account system, I can turn it back on if we feel it's required Reddo (talk) 09:07, 1 September 2016 (MDT)

Wooton had to block Fletcher Bateman for spam. He was the only vandal so far, but about 35 new accounts have been created since you changed it. I don't feel it's necessary to turn it back on. After all, Arista Maxwell is one of those and she seems to be doing fine. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:59, 1 September 2016 (MDT)
It's no where near the level of spam we used to have. Between myself and Reddo, we have only had to ban 6 users this month. Prior to this month, I was the last one to ban someone on Christmas of 2014. That was an IP address editor. Meanwhile, we have created roughly 37 users (including the ones we have banned); therefore, I think we are fine for now. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 17:34, 1 September 2016 (MDT)
okay that sounds reasonable, before the account approval system it was computers creating accounts and spamming so fast one person couldn't stay on top of it, glad it's better now, I'm back from holidays next week Reddo (talk) 09:25, 3 September 2016 (MDT)
I saw four new spam users today. AIOrocks101 (talk) 19:37, 4 September 2016 (MDT)

page ratings

I think I've mostly got a new version of the rating bar system worked out, do we want to allow non-registered users to vote? I was thinking no as now we have the account sign up system open again but I'm open to suggestions.

On the new system I've got it so you can actually rate things again and it gets saved to your user id, still need to work on making sure the whole category rating system would still work and migrating all old votes to the new system Reddo (talk) 12:27, 6 September 2016 (MDT)

I've now fully moved over to the new rating system, looks almost identical so most people won't notice a difference, I've left annon voting off for now but I imported all of the annon votes into the new database (we could also purge these annon votes if we want). I think I updated all of the calls to the old rating bar extension, I've turned it off for now but the old extension and all of the data are still all easily accessible. Few new features of the new system:

  • category ratings should be faster (hopefully reduce site load)
  • rating lists for newest votes
  • rating list for one users newest votes
  • rating list for one users highest rated items
  • list of users with the most things voted
  • votes move with page moves

check out User:Reddo/rating for some of the lists, note these lists are not real time, they are cached to reduce the server load, it will take some time for them to have the latest data, on the lists some of the have a time listed, this is server time, it might not be the same as your timezone. please let me know if you find any errors, there probably will be a few somewhere Reddo (talk) 07:02, 7 September 2016 (MDT)

This is amazing; I'll probably find my own special use for this sometime (like the OT Theory). The only thing I see so far is that if a page has one vote, the bar states that it has “1 votes.” Also, the Users who voted the most: I personally think the Usernames should be links to their pages, and that the Rating column should be a little more clear (did someone rate them personally, or is that what they rated stuff most often?) Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:06, 7 September 2016 (MDT)
I think I fixed all three of those issues Reddo (talk) 17:10, 7 September 2016 (MDT)
I've added a new tag to get the rating of a category, want to test it a little more first to make sure it's efficient but we should be able to remove all of the cat_rating pages soon Reddo (talk) 08:14, 8 September 2016 (MDT)
I didn't answer your question, did I? I don't think that we should let unknown IP addresses vote. Also, thanks for changing "1 votes," but now it says "one vote." Do you think you could have it say "1 vote" instead? Thanks for all of your developing work here. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:23, 8 September 2016 (MDT)
Also, a way to see the lowest rated episodes in a category would be nice, if you can do that... Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:25, 8 September 2016 (MDT)
the one or 1 thing I was following a mediawiki guide on plurals, I've switched it over to be 1, also added in code for order so we can see the lowest in a category, see my rating page for syntax Reddo (talk) 17:12, 8 September 2016 (MDT)
I've done some more optimizations to the category average function, also added an option to get the number of votes in the category. These are by default only updated once a week even if you purge the cache, it should be ready to roll out and replace the cat rating pages across the whole site. Let's not delete the cat rating pages yet though, let's wait and see wait and make sure everything is good first Reddo (talk) 15:11, 11 September 2016 (MDT)
I think I've switched all pages/templates that the old Cat Rating: pages over to the new more efficient version, please be on the look out for errors, if the wiki seems to remain stable for the rest of the month we'll delete the thousands of rating pages that are no longer needed Reddo (talk) 06:45, 12 September 2016 (MDT)
Nice coming. Under User:Scientific Guy/List I'm putting the list to copy and place in Special:DeleteBatch Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:28, 12 September 2016 (MDT)

Let's go ahead and delete the cat rating pages, looks like things in the database are working as they should be Reddo (talk) 18:56, 30 September 2016 (MDT)

Check.svg Done!! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:55, 1 October 2016 (MDT)

I'm Back

Hello to everyone on the wiki. You may not know me if you're newer to the wiki, that's because I took a break from the wiki last year and part of this year. (To focus on my life more) I am an administrator and am willing to help with any projects that are currently being worked on.

I'm definitely glad to be back, I'll try to contribute as much as I can! (life can get busy though, especially with high school)

Skylerbuck (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2016 (MDT)

Hey, Skylerbuck! I'm working on several pet projects, but it's really good to have you back! I am a new sysop on the wiki here. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:15, 11 September 2016 (MDT)

Poll

It looks like the poll page is down, can someone fix this? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:16, 21 August 2016 (MDT)

Yeah, I think that is server side or at least a missing extension, since it is due to the wiki not finding a function. Reddo will have to take a look at that. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 22:02, 21 August 2016 (MDT)
Reddo, can you try this please? I know you have a lot on the schedule, but do you think you can fix it? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:15, 11 September 2016 (MDT)
Fixed that error, I don't have time to mess around with it and look for other problems but let me know if you find any other problems and I'll try to fix them Reddo (talk) 14:46, 11 September 2016 (MDT)
Hey, do you think that someone could update the poll? It's been the same for years... Jesusboy03 (Talk) 15:24, 1 October 2016 (MDT)
I'd really like to do this myself, but I am not proficient in <qpoll>, let me experiment and see if I can figure it out Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:51, 3 October 2016 (MDT)

We got a new poll! I can't figure out how to retrieve the number of people who voted; maybe Reddo can do that Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:29, 3 October 2016 (MDT)

Imagination Station Books

I finished a 3-day project on overhauling the Imagination Station books

  • Added more artwork, missing back covers and 3D images and draft cover art from David Hohn
  • Standardized all the pages (sections were in whatever order and named different)
  • Added Purchase Links
  • Added other links (podcast, etc)
  • Uploaded 12 more Sample Chapters from Tyndale
  • Created pages and added artwork and link for the Compilation Sets

CBD has other excerpt images for all books especially those missing Sample Chapters, I just didn't do that yet.

~ OdysseyFan (talk) 09:15, 13 September 2016 (MDT)

Album Front Syntax

What is the syntax for the art on the wiki? I know that it's XXX art.jpg and XXX art-small.jpg for episode arts, and XXfront.jpg for album fronts, but for small album fronts, why is it XX-front-small.jpg instead of XXfront-small.jpg? Aiow says you told him to do it that way Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:40, 12 September 2016 (MDT)

I noticed that as well as I have been categorizing files; however, since all of small images are labelled XX-front-small.jpg, I was still able to update the Album Image template to recognize those files. So as long as all front small images are labelled that way it still works. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 20:55, 12 September 2016 (MDT)
ummm I'm really not sure, I think someone else started doing it like that and I just told him to continue, it's fine by me if we change to make it more consistent Reddo (talk) 07:37, 13 September 2016 (MDT)
Yeah, I just don't see the point of there being a dash in between XX and front-small.jpg. The file File:TTC-front-small.jpg should be named TCfront-small.jpg, but if we do that, the system will be messed up. I want us to change this stuff, but I don't want to start an edit war between me and Aiow Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:12, 13 September 2016 (MDT)
I'm moving this to the town hall so everyone can see it, let's come up with something consistent across all art for books, episodes and albums, for full size, and small, front back art and 3d variations, promos/samples ect. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking:
  • File:Series-number-view.jpg
  • File:Series-number-view-small.jpg
following this we'd have:
  • File:Album-06-front.jpg
  • File:Album-06-front-small.jpg
  • File:Album-06-art.jpg
  • File:Album-06-promo.mp3
  • File:IS-17-back.jpg
  • File:Passages-4-front.jpg
  • File:Episode-799-promo.mp3
  • File:Episode-799-art.jpg
  • File:Episode-799-art-small.jpg

I don't really care if we use this format or another one, I just think that we should use the same syntax for everything, this may look like a lot of work but we can probably automate most of it Reddo (talk) 05:45, 14 September 2016 (MDT)

My 2 cents - I like the Album-00-front that would also be album-00-3D.jpg (or.PNG) IS- Passages- the Original Series? OS? Mysteries? I don't think we need to preface Episodes as most will exceed even albums 1-62 vs 1-800 I agree the dash is needed as 00-back and 00front-small is not consistent. also can we then update Special:Upload to include the naming convention ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 06:30, 14 September 2016 (MDT)

Okay, I see your reasoning. I don't see a lot wrong with it, except that it's really different; I personally think that we should keep doing what we're doing. I agree with OdysseyFan on the numbering process. Here're my ideas for the syntax:

Episodes:
Albums:
Episode files have a space between the number and the file usage. Albums do not. There are no capital letters in the files. Does this sound alright? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:55, 16 September 2016 (MDT)
Spaces bad idea besides the wiki turns them to underscores. and again if you are not differentiating at least one there are many 01s I was saying the only this that does not need a qualifier is episodes as they number to 800. That was for simplification.. are you trying to standardize or simplify the file naming convention? reddo said
  • File:Series-number-view-small.jpg
Seems like we need edition in there somewhere
  • File:Series-number-view-edition-size.jpg
I'm not concerned about album 62 it's album 2, with 7or 8 cover variations, novel#1 with 6 cover variants,
Also there seems to be some issue with old new being used its a pain to rename but should the new file always be the standard and thus all files being updated should be renamed as -old and the new file uploaded with the original file name, except that messes up a lot of Galleries, so edition seems to be the way around that since -old does really work after the third edition comes out. ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 22:16, 16 September 2016 (MDT)
Yes, I am trying to standardize. With the numbers, what I'm saying is that if just a number is given, then the file automatically pertains to an episode or an album. Books I think we'll get a different system for. And what's so bad about underscores? Reddo, you have The Final Call. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:38, 18 September 2016 (MDT)

Nothing actually underscores are easy to read but get converted to spaces, dashes-stay-dashes-forever ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 16:01, 18 September 2016 (MDT)

Scientific Guy I'm not against making a set of standards for file names, in fact it is probably a good idea. (Out of the two proposed here, I prefer yours.) I just need to know what we all decide upon because like I said earlier, the template will have to be updated, and I dont really remember what it all does :) I don't think it will be an issue to remove the first dash.
<div class="hiddenStructure" style="clear:left;font-size:0px;text-align:center;">{{#ifexist:{{#vardefineecho:filePath|File:{{#var:albNum}}-front-small.jpg}}||{{#vardefine:shortName|{{#explode:{{BASEPAGENAME}}|:|0}}}}{{#vardefineecho:SfilePath|File:{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |0}}||1}}{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |1}}||1}}{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |2}}||1}}{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |3}}||1}}{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |4}}||1}}{{#sub:{{#explode:{{#var:shortName}}| |5}}||1}}-front-small.jpg}}}}</div><div class="hiddenStructure{{#ifexist:{{#vardefineecho:goodFilePath|{{#ifeq:{{#varexists:SfilePath}}|1|{{#var:SfilePath}}|{{#var:filePath}}}}}}|true|}}" style="clear:left;font-size:10px;text-align:center;">
I also think we should have a page where all the site standards are laid out. Aiow 18:29, 6 October 2016 (MDT)
Wonderful, thank you for succeeding to do that. I'll work on removing the dash and getting a new standards page; right now I have a lot on my plate so I need a little bit to figure out my prioriteez. Again, I'm waiting for Reddo to tell me if we're using my system or his. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:42, 7 October 2016 (MDT)
Actually, is it okay if I delete the code above from the template? I know you probably put a lot of time into it, but I have an easier system to get the number Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:54, 7 October 2016 (MDT)
What kind of system were you thinking of making? When I originally made that it was so there would be no need to manually add an argument on every album page. If you have a simpler system that can check to see if a small album image exist, deals with special album names, and there is no need to edit the individual album pages, I'd be happy if you made it simpler. Here is a link to the un-minified code, it makes it much easier to see what is going on. PS I still dont think the dash is a problem, but if it is bothering others I sure wont stand in the way of unifying the site's file names. Aiow 06:37, 8 October 2016 (MDT)
Personally, I like the idea of automating the process as much as possible, but I learned that there comes a time when you simply have to do things manually. The numbered albums use the number found in the page title, but the other series albums are different. FP works for Family Portraits, but TLE does not work for the Lost Episodes because then you have two files; one named LEfront.jpg and the other named TLEfront-small.jpg. It's just not consistent. Also, Passages: Darien's Rise under your code would come up as Pfront-small.jpg, when it's officially PDfront-small.jpg. Numbering and file naming for special albums is a nightmare, see here. Because of this, I don't think it's wise to let the Template figure out the name on its own for special albums; besides: no such file as WWH1front-small.jpg even exists anyway, so it won't be a detrement to obliterate the code. It's an awesome setup, though: amazing work, but it just won't work with the new system. (For examples, see here, here, and here.)
Well, with the explanation out of the way, my new code looks like this:
{{#ifexist:File:{{#var:albNum}}front-small.jpg|
<div style="clear:left;font-size:10px;text-align:center;">
<div style="width:125px;float:left;text-align:left;">Small Album Art</div>
<div style="width:125px;float:left;text-align:right;">[[:File:{{#var:albNum}}front-small.jpg|CD cover]]
</div>
</div>
|}}
A short while ago, I engineered {{#var:albNum}} and found that it works great. I went ahead and updated everything, except for your code. I find it redundant to have two codes for finding the file name. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 11:28, 8 October 2016 (MDT)
I completely agree with only needing one var to get the album number, so that will change no matter what happens with this part of the infobox. Now what would your code do on a page like The Truth chronicles? I dont see anything in your code to deal with special albums, it only gets the number.
It is true where there will probably be some cases in special albums where we can not get the naming to fit in to a standard, but don't you think that it would be a good idea to design a standard for the special albums so it is not so much of a "nightmare." As it is now, with no set standard, who is to say that my code is not expecting the correct naming scheme? (not saying that it is, but at the same time we have nothing to go by.) So I would suggest that before we go and change the template (just to get rid of the dash) we decide upon a naming convention for the special albums. Then when there is a clear goal we can unify everything at once, and in all probability make an automatic system that gets the file name. Aiow 09:53, 9 October 2016 (MDT)
Personally, I believe the naming scheme should be left up to Reddo; when he comes back out of the closet he's hiding in, let's ask him. I am not ready to undertake a naming scheme like this. Now, I already changed the template to get rid of the dash, but for The Truth Chronicles it is still looking for a file called TTCfront-small.jpg whereas it should be looking for TCfront-small.jpg. In the template on The Truth Chronicles' page, I've put in "| album_num = TC", telling my code to automatically load the front, back, and 3d album images; I think this would work for the small ones too. New information

Hey, just putting this out here to pique anyone's interest; nine minutes into October's OAC documentary, a sheet of paper is shown containing information about the Cruise show. I was able to pick out the name of the show, but the rest of the paper's a little fuzzy to me. Does anyone want to glean more info from this? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:54, 12 October 2016 (MDT)

I'm not in charge, but even if they don't want you to put it up on the wiki, can you send it to me so I can see it? Any fodder for my geek-ness is appreciated.! :) FlYiNg FiSh-YoShI SaN (talk) 09:04, 13 October 2016 (MDT)
Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to download it in HD, if I did I would glean it myself. Maybe someone with an OAC account and a 1920 * 1080 computer screen could do it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:11, 13 October 2016 (MDT)

What does this do?? See here Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:54, 29 October 2016 (MDT)

I have looked and there seems to be no use of "new" in the current template. Nor any use going back in the revisions history to 2015. So I have no idea why it is on that episode page. User:AIOrocks101 made that page, so maybe ask them. Aiow 21:17, 11 January 2017 (MST)

List of Things That NEED Editing

Soooo are we supposed to be editing and cleaning up and updating stuff? (Yeah duh question I know) Is there like a list of character profiles or something that we could on? I am just sorta lost at what to do around here. AristaMaxwell (talk) 15:55, 3 November 2016 (MDT)

I noticed a few things, like the Album Images that contain character info is not extended to samplers, videos and other products, so that could be worked on. i dunno if someone plans to automate the "Album Appearances" under major characters, but still a lot of those missing, and like I said it could be expanded to include Products/videos/etc. Still a lot of infobox pages that have the outdated sidebar code that could be cleaned up. Lots of Product pages still need to be created. Most of the images have been uploaded, but if you create a product page without an image there is a category to show which ones are missing images. ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 16:12, 3 November 2016 (MDT)
Thanks! I will tackle some of those tomorrow if I can! AristaMaxwell (talk) 18:52, 3 November 2016 (MDT)
The episode pages need plots. See here. These three episodes (one, two, three) have good examples of what it should look like. Episodes in Album 59 need more improved plots. TigerShadow did a really good job at this. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:59, 4 November 2016 (MDT)
Lol you noticed my plot work. I figure a rough plot will do well enough for now. It's hard enough following the episode and typing up what's going on. If someone could follow me around and get those cleaned up that would be great. FlYiNg FiSh-YoShI SaN (talk) 16:09, 4 November 2016 (MDT)

Something else missing is the Avery Awards from 2016 you can get the details on Official Podcast 251 & Official_Podcast_254 just need pages created for that... also 2015 if they did it... ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 10:09, 5 November 2016 (MDT)

Are we allowed to add plots to the Club Exclusives? I am itching to do a few of those. AristaMaxwell (talk) 17:14, 9 November 2016 (MST)

Blackgaard Chronicles Book

Hey so are we going to make changes according to that book? For example, Richard Maxwell worked at Odyssey Retirement Home? FlYiNg FiSh-YoShI SaN (talk) 09:30, 29 November 2016 (MST)

Yeah, go ahead and make the changes, and cite them according to the book Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:26, 29 November 2016 (MST)
If those details are released to the OAC only should they only be on the book page with a spoiler alert? ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 16:48, 29 November 2016 (MST)
Nah, since that was back in ~1990 its fine Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 22:02, 30 November 2016 (MST)
I would suggest waiting until the official release of the book to add details that are not in the radio episodes. The book on the OAC is not the final draft and could change between now and the official release. Plus, there are several new pieces of information in it that non-OAC members do not know yet that do constitute as spoilers. I believe that would help insure that everyone gets a chance to read the book to experience the info for themselves first.
Come to think of it, that way sounds just Peachy. Let's do it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:11, 2 December 2016 (MST)

Actor's contact info

Hi I'm new to this website but a long time AIO fan. Do you think there is anyway you could put the actors'/ actresses', of the different characters, fan mail address? I've always wanted to be able to write the actors/actresses to tell them how much I enjoy listening to them. Not sure if this is even possible just thought I would suggest it and see. :) God Bless! ConnieWithTheCopperKettle 21:56, 6 January 2017 (MST)

Welcome to the Wiki, Kcn! That sounds like a great idea; as long as their contact info (email/address) is on IMDb or on their personal website, I see no problem in putting it here. I will work on implementing this, but if you want, you can put their addresses on their respective talk pages (example: Talk:Katie Leigh). I look forward to seeing how you do! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:24, 7 January 2017 (MST)
Okay, I added Katie Leigh's contact info on her talk page. Working on some other ones. I got her address by messaging her on her website and she sent me that address. ConnieWithTheCopperKettle 06:47, 8 January 2017 (MST)
I think you should clarify that if you specifically ask for an address it doesn't mean they are ok with you posting it online. If its not posted on their website already you would need to specifically ask if it's ok to post on aiowiki.com ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 06:57, 8 January 2017 (MST)

okay. That's fine. Just wondering if I needed to do anything right now. And what I was supposed to be doing with the actor's addresses. I dont have IMDb so I cant get thier fanmail addresses that way. Katie Leigh is the only one so far that has had an option to messge her on her website. The others just have their agents addresses. If you or OdysseyFan have IMDb and want to use it to get the rest of thier fanmail addresses that's fine with me. Or if you don't have time to add them but you could get them off there and you wanted to email them to me, I could add them for you. either way it doesnt matter just let me know.
