Characters

We should probably start off with editing the characters in, possibly a list of episodes they appeared in...or perhaps that would be too long? I'm working on Whit at the moment. -ek

I think we need to add a Development Episodes/Character Time line that point's out significant events in the life of said Character. IE Eugene - Enter Odyssey, Salvation, Married Katrina, etc etc etc

I am working on some of the characters whose pages are missing. Should I list them in the projects page so that other editors know what to look for when creating character timelines?Paixpirate 15:25, 8 November 2007 (PST)
There's really no need...any edits get automatically listed in the Recent Changes...but if you really want to, by all means go ahead. blipadouzi 15:57, 8 November 2007 (PST)

Minor Characters

I think we should add more details to the minor character profiles. I'm not familiar with all the minor characters so if there's anyone who knows a lot about a certain minor character, please add more details. Thanks --Harlow 11:44, 28 May 2007 (PDT)

Albums

All main stream Albums have now been added to the Wiki...woohoo!!! Now I am wondering if we should bother adding the secondary Albums like the Platinum Collection, Odyssey USA [1], More than Sundays [2], Welcome to Odyssey [3] and so on... blipadouzi 07:10, 27 June 2007 (PDT)

I think we should eventually add them but we would need to somehow distinguish them from the main albums and we should probably get the episodes done first. Spiderman 10:22, 27 June 2007 (PDT)
Agreed on both counts blipadouzi 14:56, 27 June 2007 (PDT)

Gold Albums

My proposal would be to keep the link to the Gold albums, but have redirects from the original albums and contain a section within the album description of the differences between the two versions. I plan to have FP done this weekend and I will do Odyssey USA like the above mentioned plan. If everyone likes it, we can keep it that way. Thoughts? jrcplanet 10:42, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

I would say create 2 seperate album pages...one for the old and one for the Gold...and then list them both on the episode pages...Listing them both together is good for a fan reference site like Soda or HQ, but not for a Wiki. blipadouzi 17:39, 14 July 2007 (PDT)

Trivia/Notes Sections

At some point someone brought up the idea of joining the Trivia, Notes, Allusions and Goofs subsections into one big section and therefore eliminating the sub-sections. I have thought this over some and here is my recommendation:

  1. We go ahead with the merger of the sub-sections and rename the Section from Notes to Fun-Facts.
  2. Start including facts not only from the various websites (including but not exclusive to aiosoda.com, aiohq.com & whitsned.org) as well as Chris' fun-fact audio clips.

I'd be more than willing to go through the existing episode pages to make the corrective changes...Opinions? blipadouzi

I agree as long as you're willing to do it. I like those audio clips "from the Odyssey scrapbook" User:Wikinewbie

Question?

In the articles about episodes, I've noticed that alot of them have a place for reviews. Do these reviews have to come from anywhere in particular, or can individuals just make some up of their own?--Rachel Maxwell 14:04, 15 December 2007 (PST)

Hi Rachel...the Reviews can be copied from other sites like [www.aiohq.com AIOHQ] or [www.aiosoda.com The Soda Fountain], but if you feel lead to write one up, then by all means feel free to post it here. blipadouzi 19:46, 15 December 2007 (PST)

Another One

Thanks-I've got another one now! It is alright to copy/paste the plot from whitsend, right? And if I did copy/paste or even write a review, how should I credit it?

As for the plot, yes that's where I personally get the plot blurb from is whitsend.org...I usually copy the summary from aiosoda.com. As for giving credit, check the Resources section in the Wonderworld...I added the proper links to show where some of the information was obtained. blipadouzi 07:00, 16 December 2007 (PST)
Wow i didn't know that we are allowed to copy and paste the plot and episode summary from those places I've been writing them myself while listening to the episodes, this will make it a lot faster to do up the episode pages Reddo 14:49, 18 December 2007 (PST)
As long as the page links are references in the Resources section...it's fine...cause we're not claiming it as our own, but stating we got the information from xyz.com. blipadouzi 15:34, 18 December 2007 (PST)

Rating System

Is there any chance of the wiki implementing some sort of rating system for the episodes where users can vote the number of stars an episode deserves, kind of like on youtube or something? --Rachel Maxwell 21:13, 15 December 2007 (PST)

As for the rating system, I personally would love to see something like that implemented, but I am not sure it exists for a Wiki style website. I will talk with Corey and see what he might be able to come up with...he takes care of the programming side of the site. blipadouzi 07:00, 16 December 2007 (PST)
I looked at it and i found a poll extension that somebody created that i think would work pretty good for this sort of thing it can be found here, again like the parsor functions it would require the help of somebody who know how to install extension, but i think it might work nicly Reddo 21:28, 31 January 2008 (PST)

template for today's episode

Hi, i was trying to work on some of the template for today's episodes that are displayed on the main page and for some reason now the template for august 2nd is being displayed but when you go to the template for today it shows the correct episode, maybe you can figure that out,

To be honest I don't know what you are referring to...today's episode is displaying just fine on the Main Page for me. Maybe you need to clear your cache. blipadouzi 15:39, 18 December 2007 (PST)

I was also thinking that instead of creating a template for an episode each time it airs that we could just have the template for each days episodes just have a template fro each episode that acts as a preview, then when they release the schedule we just make a bunch of template's that just contain {{episode name, preview}} or something like that.

I'm not sure if anybody else can understand what I just wrote, but it was an idea that i had that could make it a little easier for us.

Merry Christmas Reddo 14:34, 18 December 2007 (PST)

Basically rather than write-up a new episode bio everytime a new episode is written, cause eventually we will get repeats from reruns, create for example Template:Whit's Flop and then when it airs add {{Whit's Flop}} in the Template:Date page. I think it's a great idea. blipadouzi 15:37, 18 December 2007 (PST)

Rerouting

I've noticed that some articles don't route right. Like, if I put the [[ things around Grady, it doesn't route to the Grady page-it will only route to that if I write out Grady McKay. How do you route something and is this making sense?--Rachel Maxwell 19:00, 19 December 2007 (PST)

Yes I understand...you mean if you put [[Grady]] as a link, it takes you to the Grady page and not the Grady McKay page. This is called Redirecting...the code is fairly simple.
For example, on the Grady page type the following:
#REDIRECT [[Grady McKay]]
and that will do what you are asking for...see some of the following pages for examples...Whit, Connie, Eugene. God bless. blipadouzi 19:11, 19 December 2007 (PST)

Preloaded Templates??

I was wondering if it would be possible to set up preloaded templates so that when you click on a red link, in addition to seeing the normal buttons like bold, italics, ect there could be buttons to preloaded templates to make article creation faster.

eg. say you click on "It's a Pokenberry Christmas, Part 2" from the welcome page to create that article. Then on the create article page there could be a couple of buttons like new episode, new character, ect. when you click on the new episode button it would automatically put in the text of the new episode template, like is shown here [4]

I know a couple of other wikis that use this and it makes creating pages a lot quicker and more uniform

hopefully this makes some sense (i've been studying 3-d vector calculus for most of the day so it might not)

thanks Reddo 22:09, 19 December 2007 (PST)

I'm not against the idea, but I'm not quite sure how...if you know feel free to go ahead and do it, I've been wanting that set-up for a while. As for the other wikis you know of that offer that...do they use the MediaWiki software to run their Wikis? That might be the major difference. Here's some information about preloads that I found on WikiMedia's Help pages. blipadouzi 22:15, 19 December 2007 (PST)
I looked at it and the other wikis that i know of that have that feature aren't run on mediawiki, but i think there should be some way that it can be done because if you add the &preload=Template:New_Episode to the end of the url when creating a new page it works just like it does on the other ones. However I also have no idea on how to add this feature. Reddo 22:29, 19 December 2007 (PST)
:S Neither do I...lol blipadouzi 04:05, 20 December 2007 (PST)
I had a bit of time to look into it today and as far as i can tell you need to download and install some extensions into the "MediaWiki /extensions subdirectory". I think it might be easier just to manually type in the &preload=Template:New_Episode at the end of the url. Reddo 20:06, 20 December 2007 (PST)

Here We Come a-Caroling

the episode for last Thursday the 13th was Here We Come a-Caroling I've looked and i can't find anything about this episode anywhere, i havn't had time to listen to it yet but plan on either tonight or tomorrow, I was just wondering what exactly we should do about this episode as it has no number, original air-date, album or anything. Also I replied to your comments on my talk page. Thanks Reddo 19:49, 22 December 2007 (PST)

Well the only one that comes close is 215: Caroling, Caroling...and from the episode description, it sounds like it might be it. blipadouzi 20:06, 22 December 2007 (PST)

I looked around and finally found an article on it at aiosoda. Here it is It aired on December 19, 1992, and is # 215. It's on Gold Audio 15 as an interactive feature. The writer and director stuff is on the article at aiosoda.--Rachel Maxwell 20:13, 22 December 2007 (PST) EDIT- Whoops, sorry blipadouzi, I kept this window up a couple of minutes and accidentally put it up just after you did. Sorry!
No worries Rachel...we're all here to help. :D blipadouzi 20:23, 22 December 2007 (PST)

another idea

I was trying out some ideas of how to put the preview thing into the episode page without having to much of a repeat of the stuff already on the page and came up with this let me know what you think Reddo 21:53, 23 December 2007 (PST)

I like it...I just think that it'll add a lot of work to the page creation as the lines will have to be added manually. But the design of it is awesome. blipadouzi 04:26, 24 December 2007 (PST)
the adding in the album art in the general section would be pretty easy, the listen to link at the episode infobox would be the thing that takes a bit of time, especially if we have to add it everytime that the episode airs and then take it off a month later, however i was reading the wikimedia help pages on calculations last night and i think i might be able to create a parsor function that would add (or take away) the link depending on the current day and the last air date, all we would have to do is add a last air date to the table and edit that every time it airs. I've never created a parsor function before so it might take some time but i think i can do it Reddo 08:03, 24 December 2007 (PST)
well i started to make the parsor function and then i found out that the parsor function extension isn't installed on aiowiki. I'll try and keep thinking of another way to make it easy Reddo 09:37, 24 December 2007 (PST)
According to the Categories...there are already a couple of templates that use parser functions Category:Templates using ParserFunctions blipadouzi 09:50, 24 December 2007 (PST)
I'm beginning to think I'm in the company of geniuses.--Rachel Maxwell 08:20, 24 December 2007 (PST)
I looked at both of those pages and it doesn't look like any of them actually contain parsor functions, maybe the catagory was just left in there after copy and pasting from another site. If the parsor function extension was installed and if I'm doing this right 2 should be displayed as 2 but it isn't. If anybody knows how to make it display 2 I'd greatly appreciate some help Reddo 10:39, 24 December 2007 (PST)
I'll ask Corey about this the next time I get ahold of him...but he's EXTREMELY busy these days and difficult to get ahold of. Have a Merry Christmas everyone. blipadouzi 14:18, 24 December 2007 (PST)
I made a few more changes to my test page of Suspicious Minds test, I added the last air date and changed the link so that it acctually links to the correct page given the last air date. I also tested out my parsor function on another site and it works to display a link for a certain number of days after the air date and then take it away by itself, so all we would end up having to do is to change the last air date everytime an episode airs Reddo 21:59, 6 January 2008 (PST)

template for yesterday?

Sorry to bother you again on the holidays but I was wondering if you knew of a template that says the previous day number? so it todays the 26 it would show 25. I was able to find one that gives the next date (27) but couldn't find th previous one. Thanks and Merry Christmas Reddo 19:39, 26 December 2007 (PST)

Not from what I've seen. I did some digging on the MediaWiki site and found nothing. blipadouzi 19:47, 26 December 2007 (PST)
P.S. It's no bother. :D

Couple of Questions

I have a couple of q's when you get time! ;) What do you think of including the music composer in the infobox for an episode? The AIOHQ has it up next to sound designer so it wouldn't be too hard to find. Also, how does one go about uploading a picture, and do I even have the clearance to do that? --Rachel Maxwell 14:01, 9 January 2008 (PST)

I think that adding the music composer would be a good idea it would take a bit of time but it wouldn't be to hard, i'll add it to the episode test page. As for uploading a picture you just click on the "upload file" link on the left hand side in the tool box, file in the three blanks, click upload file and your done. Reddo 15:32, 9 January 2008 (PST)
