Small Album Images

Out of curiosities sake, what was the point of all the small album cover images? Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 10:44, 28 December 2013 (MST)

Okay, I was just wondering. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 21:10, 28 December 2013 (MST)
Why does it need to be a link on the album page? It seems as though you have some wiki template ability. I am still having issues with one of my templates. Reddo gave me an idea but I am not sure how to use it. If it iss alright, I would like to see what you think. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 21:48, 28 December 2013 (MST)

Template Help

First, here is an example of the categories I am talking about Category: Actors in 001: Whit's Flop and Category: Characters in 001: Whit's Flop. The templates are Actors in Category and Characters in Category.

Now I don't know if you have seen it but usually we run #sub{{BASEPAGENAME}}. However, that didn't work because we have some episodes that are titled FP 10 which was more characters than what I had put in. So I switched to #explode and by setting the delimiter to a colon, it worked great. Except for the fact we have a about four episodes that are titled #484: “Plan B, Part 1: Missing in Action”. Since I set the delimiter as a colon it simply read from the colon after the number to Part 1; therefore, returning the result Plan B, Part 1.

The following is what Reddo suggested but I am not sure how to make it work.

what about this?
{{#vardefine:title|485: Plan B, Part 2: Collision Course}}
{{#sub:{{#var:title}}|{{#pos:{{#var:title}}|:}}}}
returns
Plan B, Part 2: Collision Course. The var stuff isn't really needed but it might help keep the server strain down a little

Thank You! Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:23, 29 December 2013 (MST)

Thank you ever much. The only I know about templates is copying stuff and the little bit I read off of wikimedia. This problem I didn't know how to fix, thank you for your help! Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 13:46, 30 December 2013 (MST)

More Template Help

I hate to ask you because I know this is time consuming to work on templates. If need be I'll ask Reddo to help me when he gets around to it. I am trying to make the Album infobox like the Episode Infobox. I have made it so all album infoboxes should be okay until you put |new = yes; therefore, if your willing and/or able to help to see what I am talking about go to an album, edit it, put in |new = yes, and preview.

My main issues are these

  1. The tab background color is wrong
  2. I can't straighten out the links tab
  3. Everything wants to show up on the first tab

Thank you regardless if you can help. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 16:27, 31 December 2013 (MST)

That's okay. The only reason I was really thinking of doing it is because I was going to add the links to the infobox, including itunes. As it is right now, its a bunch of garbage at the bottom of the page. Regardless, I do believe that needs done and since it added extra space I thought maybe tabs would be a good idea. Wait, hold it – shouldn't the small images be named XX front-small.png rather than XX-front-small after the pattern of files like 797 art-small.png? In other words, shouldn't we remove the first hyphen? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 09:05, 10 September 2016 (MDT)
Scientific Guy, in my defense, Reddo is the one who came up with the pattern. Here is his email:

"Sure I'd be interested in them, if the names could be patterned 01-front-small.jpg that would be great, thanks"

I added the front-small images, thus creating the file pattern reddo suggested before the OAC. So if anything needs to be changed (not sure its that important) it should be the OAC episode art. Plus there are only 36 OAC images, there are over 60 album front small images, and the template is looking for that exact file name pattern. Also, I expect it was just a typo, but you said .png. They can not be pngs, the whole point of these is to get a good image with a small file size jpgs are the only choice. Aiow 11:50, 11 September 2016 (MDT)
Okay, I get it. I'll probably have to ask Reddo for the standard again. I did mean .png but just didn't know you were using JPEGs. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:40, 11 September 2016 (MDT)

Schedule

Where do you get the schedule info? ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 06:50, 16 June 2017 (MDT)

I have a spread sheet called "MASTER SCHEDULE" from FOtF. It goes up till the end of 2018. However it does not have the weekend episodes. Aiow 06:53, 16 June 2017 (MDT)
AHA! Inside info! When are you allowed to release each section the schedule, and from who did you get it? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:32, 16 June 2017 (MDT)
Reddo got it this Jan (because the old one only went through 2016) There is no limit, or anything like that. They all could be there now, (I probably would only go through this year). At one point we put over a whole year up at once. I just do them a few at a time. I'll see if I can get added to the monthly list so that I get the weekend episodes. Aiow 20:58, 16 June 2017 (MDT)
Is emailing him working for you? I still can't get through. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:00, 17 June 2017 (MDT)
I haven't tried in a while. Nor have I gotten a message from him since April. (That is why I did not put up the weekend episodes, as reddo would forward the monthly schedule to me.) However I'm now on FOtF's list to get the monthly schedule, so that should not be an issue any more.
PS Scientific Guy, nice work with BASEPAGENAME on the calendar template! That was true Eugenius. (I know you did it a while back, and I noticed, just I am slow to thank you for it.) Aiow 07:01, 20 June 2017 (MDT)

Albums Lead Section Markup

Hello, Aiow, OdysseyFan, and AIOrocks; I am having an incredibly hard time getting the auto-generated text for the series albums to work properly. User:Scientific Guy/Sandbox has the sentences formatted the way I want, and Template:Test has the code I tried to use. Do any of you know how to solve the problem?? Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 22:01, 1 September 2017 (MDT)

RE: Great; for now, I got it to work without the #expr/#time markup. Just ignore the xml, Reddo put it there and I'm not sure if he wanted to keep it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:57, 8 September 2017 (MDT)
RE: Magnificent! Thank you so much! As to the cases, the reason is that all of the series albums have been and will be released on CD. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:29, 9 September 2017 (MDT)
RE: I believe that rel_date2 is used for some of the Gold Audio Series, so perhaps we could say "...2000, and again in/on 2001." That's another thing: I previously had it set to check and see if a comma was in the string, and if it was, it would say "on" but otherwise it would say "in." On a couple pages it wouldn't work so I just put in {{{in-rel-date}}} as a param accepting in or on. You could also have a main override like {{{rel_date_full}}} or something for #01. January Club Episode, There and Back Again (Bonus), Podcast, and Signature

Hello, Aiow; four things, if you have time to spare:

  1. How do you know that Failing to the Finish Line is January's episode?
  2. Do you have a way that we can fit the extra part of There and Back Again into the schedule pages?
  3. Would you be interested in appearing on the AIOWiki Podcast with Arista and me?
  4. Why did you feel the need to change your signature? I loved it.

Thanks! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:27, 8 November 2017 (MST)

Re:
  1. I'm going to change it back for now, if that's okay.
  2. Only problem with adding it to Schedule:2017-11 is that the release date would appear as "November 1, 2017", which is incorrect (it's actually November 15).
  3. Well, I was just thinking that you could read some of the lines and join in on the reviews that we'll be doing this January. I have a Blue Snowball microphone, but Arista uses her iPhone, so as long as your voice isn't distorted or too "staticky" it'd be fine.
  4. Doh, my apologies, that was someone else completely.
Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:33, 9 November 2017 (MST)

Re: Template:Calendar

Did you engineer this system? Because it was very well put together! The way I removed the start was by using #time to get the abbreviation for the first day of the month in that year (for instance #time:D|2017-12-1). Then I made that lowercase. Here's the markup:

{{lc: //lowercase
{{#time:D| //Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.
{{{year|{{#sub:{{PAGENAME}}|-4}}}}}-{{{month|{{#time:m|{{#sub:{{PAGENAME}}|13|-5}}}}}}}-1 //{YEAR}-{MONTH}-1 ; 2017-12-1
}}}}

I was playing around with Schedule/Search and had a "thunderclap," as it were. And while I was writing this reply I changed the markup from what it was before you sent me your message. This means that every monthly schedule page (that doesn't have 1=Text, 2=Text, etc.; and besides Schedule for August 1991) can be reduced to {{calendar}}. Times like this when I wish I had a bot… Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:00, 17 December 2017 (MST)

I don't have Photoshop, and the photo editor I have can't make a better gradient. File:2018_Logo_large.png is the version I'd like to work with: could you revert Eugene's vest to blue (to get a R-Y-G-B balance), try to make it not look sweaty (see Flying-Fish-Yoshi-San's comment on the Town Hall), and un-stretch Connie (her head looks too tall)? And could you try another version with HouseMovements-Custom instead of Ravie? Thanks; I'm not trying to give you more work, but I do think you're more qualified to make it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:41, 28 May 2018 (MDT)

Just noticed, there seems to be a semi-transparent line on the right side of Logo 2018.png. Could you fix this please? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:31, 21 June 2018 (MDT)
Thanks again for making the logo; I agree it turned out really great. I had Reddo apply File:Logo 2018.png as the logo and it looked grainy. He switched to File:Logo Connie revision.png and 1) it was less grainy, and 2) Connie was in a slightly different place. If you decide to upload another 300x300 version, can you make sure it's identical to 'Connie revision' at 300px? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 08:15, 24 June 2018 (MDT)

Re: Protected schedule pages

Check.svg Done I removed cascading protection on {{Recently aired episodes}}. Reddo just upgraded to 1.32 and for some reason that put the schedule pages under cascading protection.
What I was doing with the talk pages was trying to get a "Club-Schedule" pseudo-namespace for an automated {{New Episodes}} template. You've saved the day before; think you can do it again? (please?) I'm trying to get it to automatically display the last released episode (whether Club preview, Club-exclusive, or radio) and the next three to be released. Maybe if that works we can make it more complicated: always display at least 1 radio episode, etc. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:43, 20 February 2019 (MST)

Re: New Episode template and loops

Re: Template:Schedule year

  1. I checked out Schedule yesterday and the grayed out months in the current year annoyed me; I think there should be an option to have the page created from a redlink. 1991 is grayed out because there is no daily schedule for months before August, but 2019 isn't grayed because there will be schedules eventually. See {{Clubhouse Magazine}} for another example.
  2. No idea what's going on with #time and #timel! They used to be my favorite parser functions, but I'm not sure now!
  3. THANK YOU for FINALLY uploading a replacement Darien's Rise logo, after almost 3 years! :)
Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:04, 1 April 2019 (MDT)

{{Segments}}

Any idea how to use loops for the "Segments" section of this template? Got it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 10:23, 24 May 2019 (MDT)

I can make two sections for "Release Version" and "Broadcast Version"; I don't really care about what ads air with each, since they change every time the episode airs. I have access to the Broadcast Version of every episode on the schedule, and because episodes 001 - 178 generally have details removed from the Release Version (in the wraparounds :) which is why I'm doing the project to begin with), I'll be using the Broadcast Version as a default. For the times when the release version is longer, if anyone cares to take the time to timestamp them, have at it! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 10:06, 25 May 2019 (MDT)

Re: New Episodes

Boom, fixed it. The code in {{New Episodes}} looks for the first episode of the five to have the {{{album_num}}} parameter, and none of the episodes in the list had it. I fixed "Revelations, Parts 1 to 3" to reflect the correct markup. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:23, 9 July 2020 (MDT)

Eesh, I'd need a bit more time to tackle {{Character appearances}}. Since you're able to view the markup, would you be able to make a temporary template (such as {{Character appearances2}}) fixing the original markup? Then I can copy that template into the admin-protected one. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:40, 9 July 2020 (MDT)

And also, could you check Schedule for September 1997 and Schedule for April 2014 for what to do with long episode titles? I can send a screenshot if you can't see what's going on. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:36, 7 January 2021 (MST)

@User:Scientific Guy Ok, I think I now got what you are seeing. I suspect you are using a monitor smaller then 1920px. I'll look into those styles. Currently any time the box is not large enough it just cuts off the text. I'm not too surprised my changing the text decoration broke something. I could not find anything else that used those styles. Do you know of anything else that uses those custom tool tip styles? In the css it mentions "character charts" but I could not find any such template. Will fix. Aiow 14:14, 7 January 2021 (MST)

@User:Scientific Guy Did these ping you? I'm not 100% on the notification system. Check.svg Done and Check.svg Done. Let me know if you still see issues with the schedules, or anything else for that matter. Aiow 14:37, 7 January 2021 (MST)
I didn't have my preferences set up for emails, but now I do. Otherwise, I would have received those as email notifications. I don't know if the tip is used in any other template. "Character charts" are, as far as I know, a reference to {{Episode Chart}} used for Character Intersection. As for the schedules, they show up correctly for me now. Thanks for the fixes!
