Thanks- I appreciate a welcoming statement, even an auto-generated one. CartoonNostalgia (talk) 19:19, 19 October 2018 (MDT) I know this is late, but welcome! TheAIOlover (talk) 20:06, 2 June 2019 (MDT)

Well, it's not entirely automated, but you're welcome. ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 19:27, 19 October 2018 (MDT)

Welcome from me as well! I'm Scientific Guy, one of the admins here on the wiki. I was extremely active during the summer, but schoolwork caught up with me. If you have any questions let me know; I've been involved with virtually every aspect of this website. Glad to see a new user! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 07:47, 21 October 2018 (MDT)
Thanks! Full disclosure, I had a previous account which hasn't been active for about three years and which I have no feasible way to gain access to. I've been sporadically checking the Wiki but I just decided to get back into editing- hopefully my skills have improved. Anyway, I think I remember you... CartoonNostalgia (talk) 09:14, 21 October 2018 (MDT)
Ah, that's you! Unfortunately, Reddo is inactive; otherwise I'd ask him to restore your account. Well, welcome back! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 11:40, 21 October 2018 (MDT)

Re: Some questions

I love questions! Thanks for asking, and I'll do my best to answer.

  1. Can we expect info about Album 67 around January? Honestly, I have no idea! OdysseyFan or Aioduck29 would be better at answering the question.
  2. Can we create pages about our own created content as attachments to our pages? I think it would be all right. ...For some reason I can't find AIOWiki's policy on what can be submitted, but here's what I'll say: any edits that are Christian in nature or glorifying to God are allowed, edits that would lead anyone away from God or moral decency are prohibited, and edits that are neutral in nature should be judged by the context. I know that's vague; maybe we can get Reddo to say what exactly?
  3. How opinionated should I allow the Wiki to be? Perhaps if you could give me some scenarios, I could approve or disapprove.
  4. How much conflict-of-interest info is too much? Hmm... Not exactly sure what you mean. Could you explain further?

Hope that helps! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 20:52, 26 October 2018 (MDT)

  1. Thanks, I'll check with one or both of them.
  2. I completely agree with you on this, if I have plans for anything like that in the future I'll make sure to follow these guidelines and check with Reddo as well.
  3. I'll need some time on this one; there are some examples I see fairly commonly so I'll try to find an existing one.
  4. In this case, conflict-of-interest would be adding a large amount of detail about something to an article because you have a connection with it- for instance, if a character in an episode mentions the film Chariots of Fire, a completely unbiased person would add "----- mentions the film Chariots of Fire", while a person who is a fan of the film might say "----- mentions the Academy Award-winning 1981 historical drama Chariots of Fire, which tells the life story of Eric Liddell, a Christian athlete in the 1921 Olympics." I concede adding this amount of info could be done by someone who simply looked up the film and added as much information as they could, but my basic question is how much extraneous information should be kept in a situation like that? Sorry if it seems confusing still.

Signature

Hey, your signature seems to be causing some small problems. There's too much markup put on the page when you use it. Would you put {{SUBST:nosubst|User:CartoonNostalgia/sig}} as your signature in Special:Preferences (with "Treat signature as wikitext" checked)? Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 08:37, 2 November 2018 (MDT)

If it's still not working, I can always just shorten the signature Cartoon Nostalgia 08:42, 2 November 2018 (MDT)
I edited it again to remove the line break. Just wondering, why do you want such a long signature? It's interesting, but I'm wondering if it's practical. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 10:49, 3 November 2018 (MDT)

Re: Relative importance

AIOrocks101 came up with some guidelines back when he wanted to make it only Importance-arranged: Help:Episode Cast. Maybe you could go with those? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:46, 10 November 2018 (MST)

Hybrid Cast

Hey, I saw that you updated #218: “A Class Act” to use the hybrid cast, which is awesome. The only thing is you did it backwards. They have to be entered top-to-bottom chronologically, and the numbers on the far right indicate the characters' importance. You entered top-to-bottom by importance and used the numbers to designate order of appearance. You can check yourself by previewing and selecting "chronological" or "relative importance" to make sure they show what you meant. Rachel Maxwell (talk) 08:45, 13 November 2018 (MST)

Huh? Maybe I'm just not seeing something, but they seem to be in the right order. Also, I looked at the page for #687: “The Green Ring Conspiracy, Part 9” and it seems that you used the numbers there to indicate order of appearance. Cartoon Nostalgia 08:56, 13 November 2018 (MST)
If you go to Class Act and click on either relative importance or chronological (you can tell which is selected by which one is underlined) I think you'll see what I mean. Order of appearance should be Edwin, Shakespeare, Whit, Jack, etc. You have them in order of appearance as Edwin, Charles, Connie, etc. Here's some from Green Ring 9:

|John Whittaker|Andre Stojka|1 |Jason Whittaker|Townsend Coleman|4 |Buck Oliver|Robby Bruce|8 |Matthew Parker|Zach Callison|7

They appeared in the following order: Whit, Jason, Buck, Matthew. Whit was the most important, Jason was the 4th important, Buck was the 8th important, Matthew was the 7th. Not sure what you mean about me using the numbers to indicate appearance? Rachel Maxwell (talk) 09:21, 13 November 2018 (MST)

CN is correct. "|John Whittaker|Andre Stojka|5" in line 2 means that Whit is the second-most important character, and appears fifth in the episode. Notice the underlining below "Relative Importance" or "Chronological"? Whichever one is underlined is the order you're viewing. Never mind about that; not sure what the confusion is with Class Act. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 09:31, 13 November 2018 (MST)
Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry - it just made so much sense when I started doing them to line them up chronologically and then when I clicked it the underline would change and it looked right, I must've just gotten confused. I'm so sorry. Rachel Maxwell (talk) 09:32, 13 November 2018 (MST)
No problem! :) Thanks for your work with it! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 09:34, 13 November 2018 (MST)

Cleanup

Can you clean up some of this mess you leave in your wake before you go making any more huge changes.. [[1]] ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 18:06, 29 November 2018 (MST)

Also, I noticed you made edits about references to Bible characters. Could you remove these? We decided that mentions would only apply to AIO characters. Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:05, 10 December 2018 (MST)
OK- I saw a few that contained mentions of historical characters, which I suppose is what set me off track. Due apologies. However, I could only find one, which I've fixed. Are there any more? You used the term "edits", so I guess I missed something. Cartoon Nostalgia 16:13, 10 December 2018 (MST)
Never mind, I found another. One thing: I need an admin to delete the "episodes that mention" pages, can you do it for me? Thanks, Cartoon Nostalgia 16:28, 10 December 2018 (MST)
Sure. Just add {{Delete}} to them. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:54, 10 December 2018 (MST)

Thanks for telling me about that future album thing. I’ll try and delete. - Jay Smouse (talk | contributions) (talk) 07:56, 8 June 2019 (MDT)

Re: Secret Words

I appreciate your hesitation not to make a "snap judgment," but I don't see a reason to keep the words. Focus said, "it would probably be best for those words to be removed from the Wiki," and if that's best, then that's what we should do. They are giving us the option to keep them, but strongly urging us to remove them. I trust Focus's judgment on this; let's remove them. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:11, 31 December 2018 (MST) can you make a list before you do for my reference? also can we add the full list of bonus content available if you have the secret word? ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 18:12, 31 December 2018 (MST)

Odyssey's location

Odyssey is in Ohio. I think I read somewhere that in the older broadcast versions of the early episodes, they used to say "Welcome to Odyssey, Ohio".ConnieKendall fan  talk Proverbs 13:20He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. (Guestbook) 23:47, 21 January 2019 (MST)

Re: Q and A not working

It's down because Extension:SimpleForms was disabled. I'll see what I can do about it. In the meantime, could you try to limit discussions on Talk pages only to improvements about that page, not general discussion or opinions? Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 08:42, 7 June 2019 (MDT)

Aww, don't be hard on yourself! You're fine! :) Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:05, 7 June 2019 (MDT)

Re: Redirects

Go ahead and create the multi-part redirects. It would help get rid of the unnecessary markup [[Legacy, Part 1|Legacy]], for example. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:08, 10 June 2019 (MDT)
