Missing Free Episodes

There is no download link for the following two episodes. Just a Listen Online link.

This page all works with dpl, so if you want to add a free episode, go to the episode page, and add the mp3 as "free_episode" God Bless ~ Nate ~ Talk 01:22, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Question:

If FOTF releases an episode in MP3 format, does that make it safe/right to download? Or is it only when that MP3 is listed on the website? The reason I ask is because I found almost 600 MP3s all hosted on FOTF servers. This is where the Listen online button streams from, and even after the episodes are taken off whitsend.org they are still there.

It looks like FOTF never intended for people to find this massive amount of episodes in MP3 format. Does it make it wrong to download all of these? --Faio 15:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

The recently aired episodes that are available for online listening are always played inside the FOTF player. We should not link to those MP3s because they are never linked to by Focus. The MP3s that we list have all, at some point in time, have been linked to directly. God Bless ~ Nate ~ Talk 03:19, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

If I view the page without logging in, there seems to be some kind of serious caching problem, as the most recent episode it displays is august 9th (a month and 2 days ago.) Downloading to iTunes

Just for future reference, to download an episode to iTunes, all you need to do is right click the "Download" link and the click "Save Link As". Once you save it, then you can just drag it into iTunes. That's how it works on a PC, I don't know about a Mac. Gooey98 00:35, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

To download on a Mac you right click the "Download" link and then click "Save Link As". After it saves it to your computer you open iTunes and click "Add To Library". Then you find the file on you computer and click ok. Sing4Jesus 11:39, 1 September 2012 (MDT)

More Free MP3s

  • Episode 126 "Wishful Thinking" is available from the "About the Show" page on WhitsEnd.org.
  • Several episodes are available on Archive.org, including the first 7 episodes (including "Light's Out at Whit's End"). It looks like they were put there by Focus on the Family, although several have the second part of Chris' wraparound cut off.

Free MP3s to be removed

Bad news. Got this email from Nathan Hoobler: 

I wanted to let you know about a change that we’re in the process of making here at Focus. We’re looking at pulling down a number of the “free episodes” that have been given away over the years. There are a number of episodes that are available for free download due to various promotions that we’ve had over the years, everything from Valentine’s Cards to Halloween giveaways. Even after these promotions are over, the episodes remain up for people to hear. Our concern is that having too many episodes available could undermine the incentive to join the Club, among other things. 

So, I will be pulling down a number of the MP3 audio files. I wanted to let you know so that you don’t have broken links on AIOWiki. Would you be able to remove the section on this page that is labelled “Free MP3s”?
