History

Zachary Sellars is a wheelchair bound boy who moved to Odyssey from Richland and befriended Lucy Cunningham-Schultz. He was paralyzed when his father's car was hit by a drunk driver. His father was killed. At first, Zachary had a hard time coping with his father's death. Later, he and his mom became Christians. Still, he struggled immensely at learning patience. He was briefly able to 'walk' again inside the Imagination Station due to a breakthrough by Jason Whittaker.

Family

His mother is Eileen Sellars. His father, Michael Sellars, died in a car accident. Eileen later dated a man at her work named Blake Anderson, whose wife Gloria died from cancer. Blake has a daughter Zachary's age named Jill. Zach's Grandmother Sellars never appears on the show, but she is mentioned as still living near Richland in #344: “Letting Go”.

Quotes

Zachary Sellars: Look, if you'll leave me alone, I will personally go up to your editor and tell him how hard you've worked on this interview and that I've been impossible to work with.

#299: “The Truth About Zachary”

Blake Anderson: Oh, you think this is funny, do you?
Zachary Sellars: I’m surprised. I’ve never heard of about your legendary... 56mph fastball!
Blake Anderson: Well, yeah! It looks faster when you’re trying to hit it, I guess.

#344: “Letting Go”

Eileen Sellars: Did I ever tell you what he did on our wedding day?
Zachary Sellars: I don't think so.
Eileen Sellars: We were standing at the alter about to say our "I do's". The preacher was speaking these moving and elegant words. And your father leaned over to me and whispered, "You don't squeeze your toothpaste from the middle do you?" I started laughing. There in my wedding dress in front of 300 people. I was cracking up.

#344: “Letting Go”

Zachary Sellars: Alright, if that's the way you want it, answer a question for me. Why do you have two last names?

#299: “The Truth About Zachary”

Jason Whittaker: Zach, can you imagine yourself running for your life?
Zachary Sellars: You better believe it.
Jason Whittaker: Then, run for your life!

#318: “A Touch of Healing, Part 1”

Zachary Sellars: Let's just face it, you want the dirt. You want to know exactly what put me in this wheelchair and so does everybody else. Fine, I'll make everybody happy. I had surgery on my legs last month because I tore some ligaments. There. <pauses> You're not writing this down.
Lucy Cunningham-Schultz: I don't believe you.
Zachary Sellars: Okay, fine. Um, I was skiing and fell off a mountain.
Lucy Cunningham-Schultz: Is that the truth?
Zachary Sellars: I was bungee jumping and the cable broke.
Lucy Cunningham-Schultz: What really happened?
Zachary Sellars: I was filming a rock video and stepped on some dry ice.

#299: “The Truth About Zachary”

Zachary Sellars: I... didn't know.
Lucy Cunningham-Schultz: How could you? All you care about is feeling sorry for yourself!

#299: “The Truth About Zachary”

Zachary Sellars: No, none of you guys are getting it. I don't wanna go home. I can walk in there, and I don't wanna leave it! I never wanna leave the Imagination Station, ever!

#318: “A Touch of Healing, Part 1”
