Founder/Main People
Andrew van der Bijl, David Curry

In 1955 a young Dutchman had a burden to reach Christians in Eastern Europe, where Christianity was becoming more and more illegal. That's how Brother Andrew and the global, non-profit ministry of Open Doors began. Today Open Doors serves persecuted believers in more than 60 countries, equipping the church with resources, training, prayer, encouragement, and more. Its annual World Watch List ranks countries based on the severity of oppression. In addition to supporting the spread of the gospel, Open Doors also seeks to restore communities and advocate for women and children. Former Adventures in Odyssey executive producers Kurt Bruner and Al Janssen work with the organization. It was featured in #791: “When One Door Closes, Part 1” and #792: “When One Door Closes, Part 2”.
