History

He was one of several officers who surrendered to Alvin York. After witnessing Alvin snipe many of his men he ordered that they surrender. He was escorted by Alvin and Harry Parsons until the front lines. When they were pinned down by his friendly fire he demanded that Alvin and his men surrender. However, after Harry put his rifle to his head he ordered the machine gun front lines surrender.
