Hi!

I am pleasantly surprised to see you back here at the AIOWiki. I understand you were very instrumental in the construction of this place. It is an honor to meet to you. Welcome back! MarvelousMarvin 05:43, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Just wanted to thank you for the kind message. It's very nice to be working on the wiki again. I was anything but instrumental however -- when I was first here it was mainly Blipadouzi and Redekop who were holding down the fort. They'd talk about coding and templates in a language I still don't understand and I'd nod and stick words in an episode template. :D Thanks again, and very nice to meet you! Rachel Maxwell 22:40, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Hey, take it from someone who knows -- coming up with an idea and actually putting it into practice are two entirely different things. I've had a mountain of projects I've wanted to do on the wiki and have never been able to put most of them into practice. Often the legwork of a job is as important if not slightly more important than the actual conception of that idea. I'm sure that Blipadouzi and Reddo are VERY appreciative of the legwork you did for them and this site. So Rachel, don't even try and tell me you weren't instrumental--because you were. And I'm sure they would agree with me. Even though you may not think you were instrumental, you brought your talents and abilities to the team--without which the wiki would not have been built. It's kind of like an orchestra; your instrument may not sound all that good by itself, but when you put it together with the rest of the orchestra it sounds great! In fact, your instrument can't be done without with! (That makes you instrumental :) Pun intended) The same with the two guys--they can't play the piece or build the site all on their own, even though they are very important. It's a team effort. Am I right? MarvelousMarvin 04:49, 19 May 2010 (UTC) P.S. Thank you for responding, Rachel. By the way, I'm curious: why were you gone for so long? College?
Blip and Reddo have always been incredibly kind. You're right, too, that the wiki wouldn't function as well as it does without everyone who contributes -- yourself included! I was interested, by the way, in your theory that Odyssey is "real time". I'd tried to work out once about how long an album would be if it was all in real time, and decided they would each be about 2 1/2 months. As to why I was gone, it was mainly life in general. :) Very nice to be editing again, but the way things work, once I get the project I'm working on kicked into shape (more or less) I may fade and just patrol again for awhile (I did try to keep up with what was going on). Or I may discover something else that I can do! You never know! Rachel Maxwell 18:01, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I have a slight correction to make about my previous statements. I said that it's a team effort; and that a musical piece can't be played alone; and that the website can't be built be built by one person. In a way that was right, but in way that was wrong. The musical piece can definitely not be played alone. But the website CAN be built alone. It just wouldn't be as good. Each person's talents and abilities make it better. So, the wiki could survive without me, it just would be a little different. :) Now, as for the Odyssey time line theory--could you possibly be more specific as to what you're interested in. I could talk about it and study it for a long time. Do you want a sampling of the time line or what specifically? Thanks Rachel! MarvelousMarvin 05:21, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Very true that the wiki could be done by one person -- just not as well. :) The whole time theory is interesting, sort of like "Where is Odyssey"! What's interesting is when it the show is "locked in" to a timeline. Such as the birth of Stewart Reed, or when a character references another episode and gives a time (such as when Eugene says "the grade-changing scandal from two years back"). What makes it complicated is that episodes can overlap. I'd be very interested to see some sort of timeline showing what episodes could overlap. No need for you to study it in depth or anything, but if you happen to be looking into it on your own anyway, I'd be interested to see what you come up with! Rachel Maxwell 05:34, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, as a matter of fact, I have come up with some stuff already. Here it is:
We know that AIO as it happens on the radio is not real time. How do we know that? Because of the bridge between "The Imagination Station, Revisited, Part 2" and "The Inspiration Station, Part 1". In the Im.S., R., Kelly says that the new Imagination Station will open the next day. The next day, the new station is open and Whit introduces Connie to the In.S. --STOP-- Aio goes on hiatus for TWO YEARS. When they come back, Connie is in the In.S. for the first time. How do we know it's the first time? Connie says, "What do you call this invention?" She would likely already know the name if she had been in the invention before. So, how can those two days where the new Im.S. is introduced and the In.S. is introduced be two years apart? The answer? They can't be two years apart. AIO can't be real time.
Also, since the Im.S., R. and the In.S. episodes fall one right after the other, where does "Welcome to Whit's End" fall into the equation?
Well, you already know my theory about how Odyssey falls into real time. For a sampling of the time line, I'll explain how those events I've mentioned fall into place.
Day One--Kelly gets into the new Imagination Station in the episode "The Imagination Station, Revisited" while Whit is making last minute changes to the station (most likely having to do with the Imagination Station door). --STOP-- END DAY ONE.
DAY TWO--MORNING--Eugene makes the final changes to the new Imagination Station program and to the Station itself (again, most likely to do with the door) while Matthew Parker looks on (This was mentioned in the episode "The Inspiration Station"). --MID-MORNING-- Chris takes a tour of the town of Odyssey and Eugene has her test the new Imagination Station door. --ABOUT NOON-- The New Imagination Station opens. --MAYBE TWO HOURS LATER-- Whit introduces Connie to the Inspiration Station. --THE REST OF THE DAY AND THE FOLLOWING DAY-- The events of "The Inspiration Station" take place.
"What about the Kidsboro episodes?" you may ask. "And Darien's Rise?" "And the Live Show?"
Well let me explain that. Under my time line theory, the last Christmas in Odyssey took place in the episode "The Undeniable Truth" at the end of Album 47. That would leave Albums 48, 49, 50, The Truth Chronicles, Wecome to Whit's End, Album 51, and part (if not all) of album 52 to happen in the same year. Darien's Rise does not fall into the equation because it was written years ago and could happen any Christmas inparticular. The Live show does not happen in the same year has the rest of those episodes. Why not? Becuase in that show , Jimmy says, "I think [the president] may have mentioned it in last night's State of the Union address." The State of the Union Address happens on January. Meaning that album 50 would have to be crammed into the month of January of that year in order to put the episode in chronological order. Sorry, but that's not going to work. The Live show has to happen in 2003 (We've only come to 2002 according to the Christmases in Odyssey.).
Now the episodes in these albums would not all happen in this order. That's simply not possible for several reasons, one being that in the episode "Game for a Mystery", Emily Parker says, "It's springtime in Odyssey!"
I do not yet know if I will be able to reorganize the episodes to make them fit into a year because the year is not yet finished. But if I can, some things should make a lot more sense. For instance, reorganizing the episodes should fade the Parker family in to the show and fade the Washingtions and other characters out, as opposed to everything suddenly changing and characters disappearing and appearing overnight. Reorganizing the episodes will also make the story lines make more sense, instead of them being dragged out for forever amen.
There was one other year in Odyssey I had to reorganize the episodes for. And it worked! It actually made the episodes make more sense! I still have that list written out on a piece of paper, but i wouldn't be able to explain it very well, as I have not listened to the episodes that I reorganized in a long time.
I hope this time line sample is a help, or a look onto what it is, or whatever. Did I say the right things? answer you question? not say enough? Let me know.
On a different note, I normally am not on the computer every day like this to talk with people or edit this place. I was able to be on more this week as my family and I have been on vacation in Branson, MO. So after to today most likely will not be nearly as available to talk or whatever. I may speak with you again today or I may not, but just in case I don't, I have one final thing to say: It was enjoyable meeting and talking with you this week! Once again, good to have you back at Adventures in Odyssey Wiki! MarvelousMarvin 14:45, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
As obvious as it seems when you lay it out, it had never occurred to me that Odyssey time would have to be noticeably different due to hiatuses! Your timeline makes a lot of sense, and I see no reason not to reorganize episodes -- often the order was changed in the transition from air date to albums anyway! What you've worked out is very impressive; you've certainly done a good job of working it through, and I appreciate your explanation. I too will likely be more busy in the future, but I have enjoyed this conversation, and it's been very nice to meet you! Rachel Maxwell 15:11, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Eugene Sings, Christmas lyrics

Hi, Rachel. Thanks for doing the the lyrics to all the songs in Eugene Sings! Christmas. I was wondering if you are just typing out the lyrics that are in the insert of the pamphlet, or if you're typing out what's in the songs? Because on some of the songs, they are different. MarvelousMarvin 14:03, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Marv, I've lost my booklet that came with the CD, so I just typed out the songs -- so please feel free to fix anything you notice that's wrong (at the very least I'm sure I miscounted a 'fa la la la la la la la'). Also making the parts he sings longer (Like Doooooooooona Noooooobis Paaaacem) longer rather than just putting "Dona Nobis Pacem" could be considered (by myself especially) to be a lousy idea, it just seemed to make it look more like it sounded. Which, again, may be a very lousy idea. Rachel Maxwell 14:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, than that's good that you were typing out the exact lyrics to the songs! I, like yourself, do think that it looks a little rediculous to have "Dooooooooooona Noooooooobis Paaaaaaacem" exagerated so much. I don't think it's necessary to make it that exact to how it sounds. The listeners can figure it out. But nice work! MarvelousMarvin 16:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I'm changing the lyrics now -- if you have the booklet btw, I'd appreciate it if you could look at "Jingle Jangle Jungle" and "The Fa-la-la Cha-cha-cha", there's a word or two in there I couldn't understand in the song, it's in the lyrics as {unintelligible}. Rachel Maxwell 15:10, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Check.svg Done. I added a few other minor words and rearranged the lyrics a little bit on The Fa-la-la Cha-cha-cha. I thought it made a little bit more sense that way. The uninteligable word for "The Fa-la-la Cha-cha-cha" was "terpsichoreal" which has something to do with dancing or something like that. For Jingle Jangle Jungle the booklet didn't have the all the lyrics in the song (surprise), so I had to listen closely to it and then look up a couple of different words in the dictionary to see if they had the right meaning. I settled on "toffees" which is the plural of "toffee" which is "a hard, chewy candy; taffy. [a varient of taffy]". MarvelousMarvin 15:41, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Fa-la-la looks great! Jangle Jungle does sound kinda like toffees, though that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But it's better than what I could think of, so it's fine with me. Anyways, great job, and thank you so much! Rachel Maxwell 15:51, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
No problem! I noticed you changed "terpsichoreal" to "terpsichorean". That definition does makes sense considering as I couldn't find "terpsichoreal" in the dictionary anywhere. But I looked in the pamphlet and it does indeed say "terpsichoreal" and upon listening to it I am pretty sure that that's what he is saying too. But if you want to leave it as "terpsichorean", that's fine too. :) MarvelousMarvin 16:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
You're right, he's saying "terpsichoreal", but when I looked it up, "terpsichorean" was the only word with a definition! Since that's what he's saying though, you can change it back if you want. Thanks for your help with this! Rachel Maxwell 16:03, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
By the way, for "Jingle Jangle Jungle" the unintelligible word might be "topes" which does have related words in the dictionary, but I could not find that word specifically. It has something to do with drinking which does make more sense to the song. I was unsure whether it was the word though, because it wasn’t in the dictionary. Any thoughts? MarvelousMarvin 17:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
"Topes" does make more sense in context, but I don't think AIO would put out a song instructing people to get drunk! :) Maybe it's one word? Maybe it's not "soul with something", maybe it's "sodelsomething" or something? Rachel Maxwell 20:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, there is no such word as sodel or any extention of it in the dictionary that I see. So it couldn't be that. You do have a good point that AIO probably would not put out a song that tells people to do get drunk. But Will Ryan probably wouldn't have problem with it. The song doesn't overtly say that you should get drunk. It just kind of alludes to that. It's possible that it's one word, but I can't figure out what that word would be. For now, I think that it is either "topes" of "toffees" (candy can get you in a merry mood too! :) MarvelousMarvin 17:47, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
There's a word "sodality" which is people engaged in a particular occupation. And "Tokay", which is a wine. And "Toque" which is a hat. None of these seem to quite fit either, we may actually have to ask. :D I'd be fine with "toffees" except it sounds so much like he's saying tokey, I'm sure I hear a 'k' in there, but I could be wrong. Rachel Maxwell 03:35, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I didn't think it sonded like theere was a "k" in there, but there might be. Why don't you go ahead and ask? (Though your question may not get answered, considering as it's not a very big issue :) MarvelousMarvin 19:06, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Please

If you are still on at the time of this edit could you please delete the items in the Flagged for deletion category. Irwin will get it later if you don't get it right now but I was going to look through unused images to see it I could find anymore album images. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 04:39, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Just go type in the search box Category:Flagged for Deletion and you should find the list of them. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 04:59, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a trillion! After all those are deleted then it should reduce the unused files category so that I can see if there is any of them I've missed. The category has needed it for a while. I wish I could do it so that I would have to go around asking for it to be done but O well . Thanks again! Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 05:05, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Picture

Hello Rachel,

Well I didn't know you put the picture up, so I'm sorry I removed it. Secondly, it wasn't really a picture of her face, and it's not the greatest of pictures so I thought it really shouldn't be up. The picture just looked kind of...I don't know...strange. But if you want it up, that's fine.

By the way, when someone leaves a message on my talk page, should I respond there or on their talk page? --AriaCurzonFan 07:24, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks alot! --AriaCurzonFan 06:13, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Blocking Users

I have noticed that recently, when you have blocked users, you do not provide notification that they have been blocked on their talk page. All the other admins do this. While I am not an admin, I am almost positive that that is standard procedure. AIOCREFan 15:53, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Speechless

I just saw the 100,000 edits page and I was and still am...speechless. I never though about being there! I saw that you recommended me. Wow! Thank you! I wasn't too sure if the editing I was doing mattered much, but now, wow! Thanks again! --AriaCurzonFan 17:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Timelin3

Yes, I'm still interested! So in Preferences, I would put my e-mail and then check the 'Enable e-mail from other users' box? I did that and got an e-mail from it. I can take down the e-mail any time right? I just want to know this before I register my e-mail. Thanks! :-) Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 06:29, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Rachel! I see where you can download it, so I'll just do that! Thanks again! Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. ~ Aria ~ (talk) 16:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Admin

When did you become an admin? Adventures inodysseylego 15:35, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

I've been an admin since 2008. Sadly, life has been a bit busy, and I haven't been able to edit as much as I would like. I do keep up with the wiki though, and check in much oftener than I actually do anything. (Unfortunately I happened to have been very busy right about the time all that awful spam was going on and didn't see it until it was already pretty much fixed, for which I feel bad.)Rachel Maxwell 18:42, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Re:Where is Odyssey?

I think Odyssey is in Illinois because of something Jason said. Adventures inodysseylego 23:50, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

The episode where Monica Stone takes the disk from Jason is the episode Jason said something. He said that Monica would head back to Odyssey. Then when he got to the airport he asked if the flight to Chicago had left. Adventures inodysseylego ~ (talk) ~ (Guestbook) 20:31, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes. I saw it on Monica Stone's page and wondered who he was. Adventures inodysseylego ~ (talk) ~ (Guestbook) 21:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
