Question: Why did Steve Burns leave AIO?

Well, Steve Burns didn't "leave" AIO. There were several reasons that his characters were are no longer on the show.

First of all, Mitch is not coming back anywhere in the foreseeable future, and those reasons have been explained many times by the AIO team. Walker Edmiston died, leaving Bart Rathbone's character without a voice, and the original Doris voice actor had died earlier. They did find a new actor for Doris & Bart, but since both of the original actors were gone, especially Walker, it made the AIO team weary of using them.

Add on top of that that Steve Burns had moved out of Los Angeles (and not because of anything AIO related) and the new characters of Vance King and Jay Smouse to talk over Rodney's mean side and silly and confused side, and there was really no need for Rodney anymore.
