This is a guide for the process of adding new books or albums to the AIOWiki.

Albums

Adding a new album to the wiki is easy, however there are a few steps.

  1. Upload image or images using the Album Image template.
  2. Create the new album page using the Infobox Albums template so that it gets the correct categories.
  3. Update the prior "Last Album to date" to link to the new album.
  4. Update episode pages with new album link.
  5. Make the new categories.
  6. Update Album navbox(s)
  7. Update the Future Releases page
  8. Make new product announcement page (News:New Releases/New Album Name)
  9. Make album talk page with checklist.

Don't let that list daunt you. Each step is broken down below. Just follow the guide "step by step, one step at a time" (McGee and Me! reference) If there is a step that you do not know how to do just mark it on the checklist as not done.

The Image

To upload the album image use the Special:Upload page and please follow the naming standards. For example Album 67: More Than Meets the Eye would be File:67front.jpg and for album Camp on It it is File:Camp on It-front.jpg. You need to add the Template:Album Image template so that the image gets categorized correctly. Typical usage looks like this: {{Album Image |name=John Whittaker|name2=Eugene Meltsner|name3=Pastor Rhee|artist=Gary Locke|type=sampler front|album=The Drop Box (sampler album)}} That is from File:Sampler-the-dropbox-front.jpg.

The Album page

Create the album page. The name of the page should be the name of the album, except in cases where there already is an episode or album with the same name. In which case append " (sampler album)", or " (album)" to the end of the album name. See Help:Albums for how to make the album page and what information should be there. You can use the "Album" button in the large yellow box above the editing window to prefill the page with the needed templates. Be sure to set the correct album type in the Template:Infobox Albums. Category:Albums by type is a complete list of the album types on the wiki. The most common types are "Series", "Sampler", "Special" , and "Boxed". See Album types for more information on how to choose the correct type.

Now you need to find the prior album in the series so that you can link to it. At this point click the "Show preview" button below the editing window. When that loads, scroll all the way to the bottom in the "Categories" section you will see some links for categories. (I'm using The Fruits of the Spirit as an example here) Something like "Category:All Albums, (the category for the album *we will use this link later*)Category:The Fruits of the Spirit, Category:Biblical albums ... a lot more categories." It is that third or forth category, the one for the series that we need now. (What series it is part of is dependent on what type you used above.) Open the link (Category:Biblical albums) in a new tab (remember that you have not yet saved the album page, so don't close that tab) and then navigate to the list page (Biblical albums) (it will be near the top, above all the pages from the category list). On the list page for the correct series scroll down to the bottom and click on the link for the last album. Just verify that it says "Last Album to Date", if it does copy the page name. Now use that name for the |prev = Copied Album Name line in the Infobox Albums template. Now save the page.

The Album links

Now that you have the album page done and you know what album goes before it in series order, you need to edit that previous album so that it no longer says "Last Album to Date" but rather links to the new album. You do that be adding adding a |next = New Album Name line in the Infobox Albums template for the prior newest album in that series (the album that you had to find the link for above).

The Episodes

An album is not much good without episodes. The way the episodes are added to an album is through the Template:Infobox Episode Information on each episode page. You will need to add an |album_nameX = New Album Name line for each episode in the new album. (Replace "album_nameX" with the next available number, most episodes only are in one album, so it would be "album_name2" however there are a lot of episodes that are in many albums.) You will see the existing album_nameX lines on the episode pages, simply add the new one below it.

The Categories

Before you close that last episode page you just added to the new album (if you already closed all of them then reopen any one of the episode pages you just edited) scroll down to the bottom and look in the large category section (sounds familiar) click on the red link that will be formatted "Episodes in New Album Name". Simply save that page, the site will warn you about saving a blank page, but it is totaly fine just save it anyway.

Now make the category for the album. Remember the category section on the album page? Well go back there now and click on the red link "New Album Name". Make that category page same as you just did for the episode category.

The Navboxs

Depending on what kind of album the new album you just added is you will have to edit at least two of these navboxs: Special albums, Boxed albums, Sampler Albums, Series albums, and All albums. Just check to see if the "type" or series of the new album is in each of the navboxs, if it is add the new album to the list. You will always add the album to All albums, unless it is a regular series album (they get automatically added to that navbox).

The New releases

You need to add the new album to the List of future releases. The list is sorted by release date, so put the new album in the correct place date wise.

The other page that needs to be made is the product announcement. You make that by making a page that follows this pattern: "News:New Releases/New Album Name" for example News:New Releases/Album 70: Finding a Way.

The Checklist

Back on the new album page click the red link at the very top that says "Discussion" that will create a new talk page for that new album. On that talk page you need to add the checklist. The checklist is how we keep track of what steps are done and what is left to do. For more information on how to use the checklist see the checklist section. If you successfully did all the steps, great everything is done and you should mark the checklist on the talk page as such.

Books

The process for adding a new book is similar to the process for an album albeit easier, however there are some key differences.

  1. Upload image(s) using the Book Image template.
  2. Create new book page using the Infobox Book template.
  3. Update the prior "Last Book to date" to link to the new book.
  4. Update the Book Image template.
  5. Update Books Navbox
  6. Update the correct book series' Main Page
  7. Update Future Releases page
  8. Make new Product announcement Page for the book
  9. Make book talk page with checklist.

The Image

Upload the book image or images using the Special:Upload page. The file should be named seriesNamebook number-front.jpg, meaning File:Imagination-station26-front.jpg, or File:YoungWhit-2-back.jpg as examples. Add the Book Image template and set the |type=front to be the correct for the image you are uploading (front, back, 3d etc).

The Book page

Make the new book page, the page should be named following the standard of the series the book is part of, usually the book title. You can use the "Book" button in the large yellow box above the editing window to prefill the page with the needed templates. The Infobox Book template is very similar to the Infobox Albums template used for the albums. Here for the books the most important info in the Infobox Book template is the series, image, bk_num, prev, and next.

Head over to the correct series page and get the last book to date, you will need to edit that book's page in the next step. For now copy that last book's name and use it as the value for the prev. Save the new book's page, you're done with that.

The book links

Switch back to the tab of the prior "last book to date" and change the next parameter to the new book you just created.

The Book Image template

You need to add the new book to this template so that the wiki can correctly categorize the images about the new book. Scroll down to the correct section ("IMAGINATION STATION BOOK SERIES", "PASSAGES BOOK SERIES" etc) and add in the new book following the pattern of the books already in the series.

The Navbox

The books only have one navbox (Books Navbox) to edit. Find the correct series and add the new book to the navbox.

The book series

Go back to the correct series page for the new book(the one you found and used when making the book page), examples include The Imagination Station (book series) ,or The Blackgaard Chronicles (book series). On the series page you will have to edit the number of books, and the writers chart.

The New releases

This is exactly the same as for an album. You need to add the new book to the List of future releases. The list is sorted by release date, so put the new book in the correct place in the table date wise.

The other page that needs to be made is the product announcement. You make that by making a page that follows this pattern: "News:New Releases/New Book Name" for example News:New Releases/Inferno in Tokyo.

The Checklist

Don't forget the checklist! Back on the new book page click the red link at the very top that says "Discussion" that will create a new talk page for the new book. On that talk page you need to add the checklist. The checklist is how we keep track of what steps are done and what is left to do. For more information on how to use the checklist see the checklist section directly below this.

Checklist usage

If you can not do all the steps you must use the talk page to document what you did and did not get to. Else we will have no idea what still needs to be done, and impotent pieces can get overlooked and forgotten.

There is one checklist template same for books and albums. To use the template you add the template to the respective talk page with {{checklist}} then you check off items by passing a "y" or a "n" as a parameter, like so: {{checklist|y|y|y|n|n|n|n|n|n}}. In that example the first three items in the numbered list have been completed, and the remaining are left to do. A new album or book with all nine parts done would look like this: {{checklist|y|y|y|y|y|y|y|y|y}} Or say there is no image yet, and all that is done is the the album page, the album links and the categories (we do not yet know all the episodes that will be in the album.) That would be represented in the checklist template as such: {{checklist|n|y|y|n|y|n|n|n|n}}.
