Question: Are Connie and Tom swearing in The Nemesis, Part 2?
Additional Details: In The Nemesis, Part 2, Tom says "Oh, Dear Lord, the barn's on fire!", and Connie says "Oh, Good Lord, the barn's on fire!" (may not be exact quote). Is this considered swearing? This always struck me as odd that they say it twice in this episode and nowhere else in Odyssey.

I don’t believe that a sincere cry to God is considered swearing. Since the barn burning was very detrimental to Tom, and put his horses (and him) in danger, a cry of “Dear Lord” is equal to a cry of “Oh, God, help!” A similar line is found in Flash Flood, where (incidentally) Tom is being rescued, and Whit says, “Please, God, help him do it!” Although this line is more obviously reverent, I think it is similar to the ones mentioned above. Now, if Barrett said one of these lines while trying to beat a hard level in Verminoids…

Note that Odyssey does come close to ‘profanity’ elsewhere, like Shadow of a Doubt. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:00, 25 June 2017 (MDT)
