James 1:19

19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

Proverbs 17:27-28
27A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered. 28Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

When You're Right, You're Right

“When You're Right, You're Right” is episode #661 of the Adventures in Odyssey audio series. It was written by Kirby Atkins and Paul McCusker, and originally aired on April 17, 2010.

Summary

Emily Jones is usually right about everything – from solving mysteries to cooking chili. But when she decides to try her hand at matchmaking for her brother Barrett, the singing card she creates may have disastrous consequences.

Plot

Emily Jones is not afraid to make her ideas known. She tells her dad how his chili is, and tries to give Barrett advice on how to get his "first love". She learns that Matthew Parker is helping Barrett make a card for a girl. Emily "fixes" the card, making it what a girl wants. She gives it to Matthew to give to Barrett. When she sees Barrett giving the card, she thinks that she did the right thing. Matthew then tells her that he changed the card back to how it originally was. Emily is upset, but soon gets over it by talking to her brother.

Quotes

Barrett Jones: Listen, Jay—why don't you go home and search for your brain? I think you left it in your sock drawer.

Priscilla Peterson: Your trombone solo was really good today, Barrett.
Barrett Jones: Thanks! Your flute playing was really...uh, flutelike!

Emily Jones: I was wrong?
Matthew Parker: It happens to the best of us.

Jay Smouse: Well, well, well, if it isn't Barrett. Skinny as a carrot, mangy like a ferret.
Barrett Jones: Huh? Oh. Hi, Jay.
