The Imagination Station, Revisited, Part 2

“The Imagination Station, Revisited, Part 2” is episode #642 of the Adventures in Odyssey audio series. It was written and directed by Paul McCusker, and originally aired on May 17, 2008.

Summary

Kelly gets in a new version of the Imagination Station and experiences the story of the crucifixion of Jesus.

Plot

Kelly arrives at the Garden in time to witness Judas betraying Jesus. Jesus is hauled off to be tried; Kelly argues with Judas, then travels with Malchus to go to the temple.

There, she joins up with Josiah. She tells him that it is too late to do anything to help Jesus; he insists that if she knows it is too late to help him, she knows how to change it. He then drags her off to see his father.

Jesus is taken to Pilate, and Kelly appears in Pilate's chambers as he discusses the case before him. After speaking out of turn, Kelly is sent to the dungeon, where she takes the recently-released Barabbas's cell. She speaks to two thieves in nearby cells and confesses that she is beginning to understand the story of Jesus — that she "gets it" now. One of the thieves urges her to learn from what she has learned from Jesus. The thieves are taken away to be ready in case the execution occurs soon. Kelly only wants to go home.

The Imagination Station takes her back to the main hall, where Mabel informs her that she may exit through any of the doors -- but there is only one. The rest of the story flashes by as Kelly goes through that door, then another, then another, trying to make the adventure be over: Pilate asks for Jesus' release, the crosses are carried, Jesus is nailed to the cross, Jesus cries out on the cross, and Jesus dies.

Whit discovers the sobbing Kelly in the malfunctioning Imagination Station and attempts to comfort her — telling her that it isn't the end of the story. He takes her through another door, where she sees Josiah again. He also is crying — but for a different reason. Joy causes his tears: Jesus is alive.

Kelly is taken to the room where Jesus is with his disciples. He speaks to Kelly, assuring her that his suffering was necessary, and that He knows her. He asks if she believes in Him, and she replies that she does.

"Then follow Me, Kelly... to the ends of the Earth. Even to the end of time..."

After the wrap-up, there is a small clip of Connie and Whit talking about Kelly's conversion. Whit then tells Connie to push a button on his new invention. "Here it goes..." Connie says, then pushes the button.
