[edit] Summary
Whit, Eugene, and Jason race against their rivals to find the supposed burial place of Jesus' bones.
[edit] Plot
Later, Jason, Eugene, and Whit meet at the bus terminal and get on a bus for the Kidron Wadi (valley), the site of the dig where Whit found the parchment.
At the site, they find the place where the bones are supposedly hidden. Just as they do, Professor Charles, Benjamin, and Alfred Brownlee appear and insist on being the first to see what's inside. They find an ancient coffin and open it, but the coffin is filled not with bones, but more parchments instead. Charles, Benjamin, and Brownlee try to take possession of the parchments, but Tasha suddenly appears and forces them to surrender.
Later, after Charles, Benjamin, and Brownlee are in custody, we learn that Charles and Brownlee are smugglers. Whit explains the truth about all the buried and half-forgotten parchments. At the story's end, Eugene decides to stay in the Middle East for a couple of weeks to visit with Whit. Jason flies back to Odyssey. When asked if he'll ever return to Odyssey, Whit smiles and says, "You just never know."
[edit] Discussion Questions
- What did Whit say we should base our faith on?
- How was the first century deception (with the Parchment) similar to the modern day deception with Tasha and the Agency?
[edit] Cast
[edit] Notes
- Jason calls Alfred Brownlee, "Albert," twice.
- AIO went on a three and a half month hiatus after this episode.
- The groups which are following Whit, "First Things" and "The Symposium" are references to real religious groups. Both are considered radical to opposite ends of the spectrum. First Things is the actual name of the group, while "The Symposium" refers to The Jesus Seminar.
