[edit] Summary
After receiving a tape from Whit, Jason and Eugene go to the Middle East to figure out the mystery of the Q document, a supposed "fifth" gospel.
[edit] Plot
Eugene and Jason search Aharoni, the site of Whit's archeological dig, for clues to Whit's disappearance. Brownlee's assistant, Benjamin, interrupts their visit and kidnaps Jason. Jason realizes that the kidnappers just want information about his father and won't hurt him, so he leaves.
During his meeting later with Tasha, Jason is angry to discover that the Agency lied to Whit about the work they'd contracted with him to do in the Middle East. Whit's life may be in danger because the Agency wasn't completely honest with him.
Later, in the hotel elevator, an old man demands money from Eugene. It is Whit in disguise! Whit explains that he found a first-century parchment which appears to be a gospel. He arranges for Eugene and Jason to meet him at 3:00 that afternoon.
[edit] Discussion Questions
- Why were people so willing to commit violence to find Whit and get to the Q Parchment?
- Why was Eugene so concerned about what the parchment would say, and so afraid they might actually find the bones of Jesus?
