[edit] Summary
Eugene is under the impression that Katrina is getting married to another man and bursts into a ceremony to stop her.
[edit] Plot
Whit and Eugene are finally coming home from the Middle East. Jason meets them in Chicago. Whit has to make a presentation on his time spent in Israel to the board of directors at Universal Press, and Jason is a member of that board. The board also has an offer for Whit, to go on a worldwide missions tour!
The layover in Chicago gives Eugene the opportunity to spend some time with Katrina. But when he tries calling her, no one answers the phone at her dorm room. Eugene thinks that's weird, so he tries her roommate's workplace, the University Bookstore. Katrina's roommate, Janice, tells Eugene that Katrina has gone on a trip to the Lake Shore Lodge. She went with Brandon, whom Katrina admitted to be dating when she was last with Eugene (see "Love Is in the Air," AIO #335 & 336). Eugene actually drops the phone and nearly faints when he hears Janice's next revelation: Katrina and Brandon went to the Lake Shore Lodge to get engaged!
No one can believe that Katrina would take such a big step without telling Eugene. Whit suggests that Eugene call up the lodge to see if Katrina is there. Eugene does and is hit with another bombshell: Not only is Katrina there, she is part of the Shanks wedding party! Katrina is getting married to Brandon! Eugene doesn't know what to do. Jason tells Eugene to rent a car, drive up to Lake Shore Lodge, and fight for her, show her that he's not willing to let her go so easily! Eugene rushes off to follow Jason's advice.
At the Lake Shore Lodge, Eugene quickly deduces where the Shanks wedding party is and bursts in on them, just in time to hear the happy couple say "I do." But Eugene has burst in on Mr. and Mrs. Shanks renewing their vows. Eugene humiliates himself and ends up apologizing to Katrina. Eugene wants to talk with Katrina about their relationship, but Katrina wants to wait until they are both more rational. She turns and leaves.
Eugene becomes even more irrational. He acts crazy, logging into the Lodge's computer, and almost gets arrested. Katrina is so upset by this, she asks Brandon to take her home to Chicago. On the way home, Brandon and Katrina talk, and their affection grows. Brandon screws up his courage, and asks Katrina to marry him.

[edit] Reviews
[edit] Quotes
- Eugene-What am I gonna do?! She's not only engaged, she's getting married!...O why did I ever go to Israel!!...What am I gonna do?!
- Jason-What do you mean what are you gonna do?
- Eugene-I believe my question was precise as it could be under the circumstances.
- Jason-Look, she's not married yet, is she?
- Eugene (panicking)-No.
- Jason-Then it's not too late to late for you to rent a car, drive up to Lake Shore Lodge, and bring her back to her senses! (BEAT). Provided you love her enough to do it.
- Eugene-Of course I love her!
- Jason-Then fight for her!
- Eugene-Yes! I must fight for her!...Gentlemen, if you'll forgive me, I must make a hasty departure to the rental desks. Farewell!
- Jason-Knock 'em dead Eugene!
- Whit-Do you think that was wise, Jason?...Basically, you just sent Eugene on a mission to storm someone else's wedding. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
- Jason-Yeah you may be right. I just wish I could be there to see it.
- Desk clerk-The bell works sir, but thank you for testing it...
- Eugene-...'the bell works sir', I'd like to work his bell.
- Eugene (on phone)-No Mr. Whittaker, I jest not. I rushed in and shouted that it would be a big mistake for Mrs. Shanks to marry Mr. Shanks. (BEAT) Who's that laughing in the background?--Well tell Jason I don't share his sense of humor. Big help he turned out to be.
