Bart Rathbone is running for mayor again, and this time he's up against newcomer Margaret Faye. Meanwhile, Connie learns that Whit may be paying her unfairly.
[edit] Plot
After being called into the guidance counselor's office, Connie finds that she hasn't taken a government class needed in order for her to graduate. Since she's been such a good student, Miss Hartl allows her to work on a political campaign instead. Connie volunteers to work on Margaret Faye's mayoral campaign against Bart Rathbone. This creates a conflict because Whit is concerned about the policies that Margaret might implement if elected. Whit cautions Connie to be careful about the ideas she hears from Margaret.
At the first campaign meeting, Margaret implies that Whit respects and treats Eugene better than he treats Connie simply because she is female, which leaves Connie confused when the evidence seems to show that Margaret is right. Whit does seem to give more of the high-tech and "glamorous" jobs to Eugene. Whit explains that some of his decisions are made on his workers' aptitude and talents, but agrees to teach her the basics of computers.
Later Margaret asks Connie to investigate charges that Whit fired a woman because she accused him of discrimination against women.
