First Song in Album The Electric Palace Do-Dah Song You Have the Right >>

The Electric Palace Do-Dah Song appeared in the radio show Odyssey Sings! (album 45) and was sung by Bart Rathbone with music by Wooton Bassett. Bart did it as a way to promote his electronics store, The Electric Palace, on the TV show "America Sings".

      Notes

      • The song is an obvious spoof off of Camptown Races. The original music and lyrics to the song were composed by John Fornof and the music was arranged by John Campbell. For the aired version of the song, Bart was interrupted before he could finish the song, so the entire song was not aired. However, you can hear the entire thing in a bonus track that has been included in the album. Also, for the aired version, John Campbell's music was not used, because the sound designer for the show, Jonathan Crowe, wanted live music in the final cut of the show, so live musicians were brought in.

      Lyrics

      Electric Palace do-dah song
      Do-dah, do-dah
      Discount prices all day long
      All the do-dah day
      DV's, TV's, DVD's
      Do-dah, do-dah
      MP3's and ABC's
      All the do-dah day
      (Chorus)
      Open till eight at night
      Nine on Saturday
      Call 555-3122
      Now hurry don't delay
      Radio's and microwaves
      Do-dah, do-dah
      Light bulbs, cameras, hand grenades
      All the do-dah day
      Need a part? Don't blow a fuse!
      Do-dah, do-dah
Full service for fools like yous
      All the do-dah day
      (Chorus)
      Open till eight at night
      Nine on Saturday
      Call 553-1222
      Now hurry don't delay
      Now Hurry Don't Delay!
