[edit] Summary

Connie, Donna, and Oscar all get the chance to see what would happen if everyone was treated fairly.

[edit] Plot

Connie, Donna, and Oscar are sitting around Whit's End, looking glum. When Whit inquires about their sour moods, they all relay grossly unfair incidents that recently happened to them: Connie says her mother has given her too many chores. Oscar says he never gets to do the things his older brother, Tony, gets to do. Donna says Mr. Zachary gave her a homework assignment as a punishment when she didn't feel she did anything wrong.

Whit patiently hears them out, then says he thinks they're overreacting. All three explode and take him to task. They say they only want to be treated fairly-no more, no less. Whit thinks about this for a few moments, then tells them he'll see what he can do about getting them absolutely fair treatment for the next few days. They are delighted at the prospect, but Whit feels that they don't know what they're getting themselves into with this deal.

Sure enough, perfectly fair treatment isn't as wonderful as they thought. Connie's mom takes away her extra chores but refuses to awaken Connie in the morning, fix her breakfast, or pay Connie's part of the rent! Oscar's dad agrees that Oscar should be able to go everywhere Tony goes-and that Oscar's little brother, Henry, should be able to go everywhere Oscar goes. As for Donna, Fred Zachary apologizes for not hearing her out, but he refuses to take back the homework project because Donna has been late with every assignment the entire semester. The threesome learns an important lesson about the foolishness of demanding absolute fairness-and the wisdom of relying on God's grace instead.
