A Name, Not a Number, Part 2 Siege at Jericho A Code of Honor

[edit] Summary

OT Action News returns to tell the story of when the Israelites invaded the land of Canaan, specifically the town of Jericho.

[edit] Plot

We interrupt this search to bring you a special bulletin: Brink Chetley, Lucy Cunningham-Schultz, Lawrence Hodges, and the rest of the KYDS Radio Old Testament Action News Team report on a crisis in the Middle East! They follow the incredible story that unfolds in the year 1406 b.c. The people of Israel are getting ready to invade the land of Canaan, specifically the city of Jericho, the Canaanite stronghold. Lucy is with the Israelites as they prepare to attack. Lawrence is inside the city, talking with a prostitute named Rahab, who lives in a house built in the city walls. And Brink is back in the newsroom. He is trying to make sense of it all with Middle East expert Hassn Ben-Sober. Don’t miss this late-breaking historical news story! We now return you to your regularly scheduled web surfing.

[edit] Discussion Questions

  1. Why was Joshua so certain the Israelites would take Jericho?
  2. Why do you think God had the Israelites march around the city instead of attacking it directly?
  3. How was Rahab rewarded for helping out Israel?
  4. Why did Rahab agree to hide the spies?
