Nicolas Klaushack appears in The Mystery of the Hooded Horseman as the director of the terrorist organization Red Scorpion. He attempted to buy a micro-disk containing the names of NSA agents within the organization for five million dollars. In the book, when he is told that Mr. Whittaker is preventing Mason Wasatchi from coming to Switzerland, he says that there is an "old account I need to settle [with Whittaker]." What the "old account" is, the book does not elaborate. He and Wasatchi were arrested.
