[edit] Summary

Robyn and Jack use the Imagination Station to experience the story of King Ahab, Queen Jezebel, Elijah, and the drought.

[edit] Plot

Whit and Tom are repairing the damage that Dr. Blackgaard and Richard Maxwell have done to the Imagination Station. In addition to making repairs, Whit is also adding a few modifications to the machine. The most interesting of these changes is that the cockpit has been divided in half so that two kids can now have an adventure at the same time.

Once the repairs are complete, Whit and Tom move to the control room to do a little programming. Tom puts up a "Keep Off" sign on the machine, but it isn't enough to stop Robyn and Jack. First, Robyn climbs in the Station. Then Jack follows to "rescue" her, and together they are whisked out of Odyssey.

Jack is transported to a large field and is met by Elijah's servant, Benjamin who is armed with a stick. The servant eventually escorts Jack to Elijah, though doesn't tell Jack who his master is.

Robyn, on the other hand, is taken to a palace, where she is immediately captured by a guard who takes her to Queen Jezebel. Jezebel doesn't believe Robyn's insistence that she's from Odyssey and throws her into prison.

While waiting on Elijah, Benjamin tells Jack that his master is the one who raised the widow's boy from the dead, and the drought, but as he's telling Jack that Elijah is going to tell Ahab that God will bring rain, Elijah walks up. He introduces himself to Jack and prepares to leave. Jack asks to go along, and Elijah reluctantly agrees that he may go as far as the palace.

Meanwhile, Robyn is in the dungeon, bemoaning her condition (loudly). The other prisoners help her make up a complaint list about the jail. Shortly after, she is released and taken to Obadiah, an official of the king and queen (officially speaking of course) and is taken again to the queen. While en route, they run into the king. He relays a plan to Obadiah to travel in different directions to find water for their animals. After agreeing, Obadiah and Robyn continue on to the queen. The queen is in her temple to Ashurah and Baal, and insists that Robyn join her in kneeling before her gods in a ceremony so that her priests may discover what Robyn truly is. Robyn adamantly refuses, angering Jezebel, who says that if she doesn't kneel, she will die.

[edit] Discussion Questions

  1. Why was Elijah considered such a great prophet?
  2. What are the biblical criteria for being a prophet?
  3. Read 1 Kings 17:1-19:
  4. What eventually happened to King Ahab? Queen Jezebel?

[edit] Notes

  • VERSION DIFFERENCE: The broadcast version of this episode begins with Chris telling the audience to look up 1 Kings 17.
  • The red button in the Imagination Station is white in these episodes. (This can possibly be explained by the fact that Whit just finished fixing the Imagination Station and could've changed it, then decided to change it back.)
  • This episode contains Paul McCusker's first known reference to nibbling rats.

[edit] Quotes

  • Robyn (about the prison)-....It's wet, annd it stinks, and I'm cold. It's terrible.
Prisoner 1-Excuse me, don't forget the rats... It's wet, it stinks, it's cold, and the rats like to nibble at your ankles.
Prisoner 2-Hey the food is bad too you know. You can't put together a list of complaints about this prison, without griping about the food.
Prisoner 1-Right, so what do we have? Let's see it's wet, it stinks, it's cold, the rats like to nibble at your ankles, and the food is bad.
Prisoner 2-Did you mention the plumbing?
Prisoner 1-I don't think I did. Do we have any?
Prisoner 2-No.
Prisoner 1-Then we should mention it.
Robyn-Would someone please get me outta here?
