This album has been released under four different titles. The first two were called Odyssey: USA and Adventures in Odyssey and both contained the same episodes, including unedited Officer Harley episodes and Odyssey USA references. They both included the first twelve Odyssey USA episodes, except for the most controversial episode "Addictions Can Be Habit-Forming" which had started all the controversy surrounding Officer Harley. These albums were pulled after Focus on the Family decided to remove the Officer Harley episodes from availability. The third release of this album was called The Early Classics, and featured remakes of the Officer Harley episodes in place of the originals. It also contained new "wraps" for all the remaining early episodes, replacing Odyssey USA with Adventures in Odyssey. The only completely missing plot in The Early Classics was from "Light Out At Whits End", an episode which included Officer Harley but was never re-recorded. The episode "A Change of Hart" was added to take its place.

When it came time to re-release this album on CD, the Officer Harley remakes were deemed out of place since, although the plots were from the beginning of Odyssey, the current versions of the episodes contained newer characters (such as Eugene Meltzner) that had replaced Officer Harley. These episodes were removed from the album and other older and unreleased episodes took their places. One of the new episodes was "A Member of the Family" which had never been rebroadcast since the Odyssey USA days. Rather than edit the original Odyssey USA "wrap", a completely new one was recorded, the first new "wrap" for an older episode in many years.
