“Connie Goes to Camp, Part 1” is episode #74 of the Adventures in Odyssey audio series. It was written and directed by Paul McCusker, and originally aired on June 10, 1989.

Summary

The gang from Odyssey goes on another trip to Camp What-A-Nut. This time the guys and girls compete in various events and Lucy meets a new friend named Jill who leads her into trouble.

Plot

After getting fired from her job at Whit's End, Connie decides to be a counselor at Camp What-A-Nut. She writes to her mother about the camp and the unusual activities that have occurred there during the past week. First, in her cabin are Lucy Cunningham-Schultz, Donna Barclay, Robyn Jacobs and Alison Leskowsky. Each has her own little quirk — Donna and Robyn love clothes and makeup, Allison is addicted to TV, and Lucy makes friends with a rebellious girl named Jill.

Meanwhile, the boys — Jimmy Barclay, Jack Davis, and Oscar Peterson — give athletics a bad name by severely botching both archery and canoeing, much to the dismay of their counselor, Fred Zachary.

Later, when the girls go on a nature walk/camp out, Jill persuades Lucy to sneak away-something that is strictly against the rules — to see a beautiful waterfall and a herd of wild horses. That night, the girls bed down in their tents. Donna and Robyn complain about the dirt, bugs, and rain, while Allison continues to bemoan her lack of TV. Suddenly, they hear strange noises outside. The girls are instantly terrified. Allison makes things worse by telling stories of "the Goat-Man," a supposed monster that roams the territory. The noise moves closer until it's right outside their tent. Something lifts their tent flap. The girls scream in terror.

Fred Zachary: What are you doing?
Oscar Peterson: Trying to... fit the arrow in my bow...
